My dog Brownie hurt her hind leg several months ago, and was well on her way to being healed, then suffered a set back she has to be confined most of the time, and healing can take up to a year according to the experts, I beleive in the power of prayer and would love for other beleivers to pray and agree with me for her complete and lasting healing. thanks Patf

I put flea drops on my dog yesterday and she hasn't been digging as bad and so I was wondering if fleas can live on the carpet and stuff? If so how long can they without being on her!?

I have a 6 year old male Beagle. The vet thinks he should get his teeth cleaned due to the start of gingivitis. He eats dry Science Diet food. I vary his treats but they are all hard (Milk Bones, Dental Bone, and Greenies (not all in the same day :) ). I brush his teeth but not as often as I should. I really don't want to get his teeth cleaned since he has to go under and it doesn't seem worth the risk. I'm thinking a more frequent brushing will help eliminate the ginigivitis. Are there other vet cleansing options that don't require the pooch to be put under. Any advice would be great.

It seems the vet teeth cleaning seems overrated. Growing up my family had a Daschund and he lived to be 16, ate soft food and never had his teeth cleaned. My family currently has another Daschund, currently 14 years old, and again no teeth cleaning.

Thanks
MW

I work 40 hours a week so I'm gone for the first 8 hours of every day. The puppy either can't or won't hold it that long so any time I leave it in its kennel he pees in it and on himself. What should I do with him while I am gone?

I have a 8 month old Lab/Pit mix and she weighs 40 pounds and comes just above my knees. Just wondering if the growth starts to taper off at this age or if she will continue to grow some more? Thanks!

My dog has been potty trained for 2 years now. She doesn't have occasional accidents etc., she goes to the door and holds it until we bring her out. We never have a problem with her, she barks or whines to let us know. Last night we brought a new dog home to dog-sit for a friend and our dog completely reverted. While we were awake she was perfectly fine and even played with the dog but when I woke up in the middle of the night I found that she had pee'd TWICE on our carpet and poo'd TWICE in a matter of a couple of hours. I'm sure it has to do with jealousy, anxiety etc. but my question is, will we now have to completely retrain her after all this time and will she go back to normal once the other dog is gone?? I don't want to have to take her priviledges away or mine since I love having her sleep in the bed with me at night :(

My four month old puppy has just started not eating properly, he's otherwise helathy and playful, the vet just had to empty his anal glands but that's it, he's been wormed and so on regularly. I feed him on Hills complete food, which I have done from the beginning, he used to wolf it down, now he's not interested. I've tried varying the flavours of the Hills, mixing in some cooked chicken and adding gravy. He will pick at it eventually if I leave it long enough, I know you're not supposed to leave it down but I worry about him not eating. Sometimes I even hand feed it to him! anyone any ideas??

With all the Pitbulls attacks that have hit the news media, how do we know what the reports really mean? Here is a test to see if you can pick out the APBT that was the cause of the attack. I want honest answers. Email me or post. I would guess most of you will take more then one guess to get it right.

Here is the test:

... if I leave my dog at home in the back garden, where she can run around and has everything she needs, or take her with me and leave her in the car, which means she will see more of me while we're out? She is very good when left in the car and doesn't do anything she shouldn't, but obviously it's a confined space and very boring for her while I'm in the shop. Tying her up outside the shops isn't an option as she goes ape (she's just a puppy) and I'm afraid she would get stolen. I'm looking for a straight "garden" or "car" vote, but the best reason will win 10 points. Thanks, I do value your opinions!

it is just that they know someone is saying something or making a noise and they understand the tone of it, or do they actually end up knowing that if the specific name is called that its for them
and also i sorta want a professional or a dog psychologist (if they exist) to answer this, not just any random persons opinion

I went to this website http://www.mrwinkle.com/ and I looked at the dog. Yes, it is a cute dog, but I do not consider it to be the cutest dog in the universe.

I have my very own dog that is a Pekingnese, and I consider my own dog to be the cutest dog in the universe. My dog is much cuter than Mr. Winkle.

My dog has a kidney infection & she needs to be put on a diet that has low amounts of protein in high quality.
Do you know of a dog food that I could give to her that would fulfill these requirements?
My vet has prescription dog foods, but they're really expensive and she suggested that I look around for something cheaper.

My mom would like to fly with her 25lb German Spitz, but only in the cabin -- not as checked baggage.

I looked online, and airlines require the dogs be in kennels with a max size of 8.5” high x 17” long x 12” wide. This seems incredibly tiny!

Has anyone traveled with a dog recently that can give some advice?

We stay in an apartment and our dog who simply keeps on barking till we take him out. We dont want our neighbours to be disturbed and cause them inconvenience. But its really annoying for us too. If we ignore him,he continues to bark and whine.
