Well, ok I have never owned a Pitbull and I don't want to. Why not? They are the breed for me. Not because they're some demon stuck in a dog body, not because they pick on little kids...
I'm sick and tired of everyone putting a dog breed done!
People always talk bad about Pitbulls and Rots saying they're some monsters. They're NOT. I have met many many great ones in my life. Have I ever met an aggresive one? No way.
I think the reason they have such bad reputations is because alot of people are into that stupid abusive animal fighting...so the people train there dogs to be aggresive. And normally Pitbulls are the dogs they choose for that.
Also, we have those idiots that think its cute and funny to abuse pets. Well pitbulls get abused the most. So, then the abused ones think theres no good. So whats their choice? Be aggresive.
But, the people with common sense who don't abuse, who don't train their Pitbull to be aggresive have a nice, very beautiful dog.
Theres no reason why people should talk crap about them.

I think they have such a bad reputation because people use them as fighting dogs... Think about anything that has really happened with pitbulls... It was either fighting or mauling a kid. It really depends how you raise the dog... I have two pitbulls, who are just adorable. One is is red nose and the other a blue nose. They both love children and they're practically my children... They are good watchdogs but if they know we know the person they back off... They don't go outside the my house gates, they know better. Even if there are people walking down the street they won't cross the gates. They don't bark at children only at adults. They love my mailman, mostly because he is always bringing them some kind of treat.... They act like such little kids... They have never growled at us or tried to bite us, and they are around kids all the time too. So like i said, it all depends how they were brought up...

Because people are afraid of what they don't understand. They see a large muscular dog and assume they're only purpose is to kill things. The media also trys to tell people that a pit is nothing more than a killing machine. This is just not true. A dog of any breed has the ability to bite and be aggressive. The reason some dogs bite and some don't is all in how they are raised. Pitbulls are unfortunate for being popular with a bad crowd of people who get them and abuse them. A pitbull in the right hands is a wonderful, loving, loyal, baby. I have 2 of them and they have never been subjected to fighting and have never been abused. They are the gentlest large breed dogs I've ever seen, and they are soooo willing to please their owners. They're like having two really muscular babies. And as far as statistics go, there have been more humans bit by labradors than pits. The media doesn't want you to know that a loveable lab might bite your child, but a scary, bulky pitbull makes a great target to go after.

Because they are a strong breed of dog that is in some ways easier to make aggressive. Also people get these dogs to increase their testosterone and know nothing about the breed. They don't pay any attention to the warning signs then after if attacked someones 5 yr old their defense is "but it was such a gentle dog who would known it would do anything like this" which sends a message to people that the dog was unpredictable instead of sending a correct message that the owner was a complete MORON!!!!!!!!

They are naturally a more aggressive dog- now I am NOT saying that is a bad thing- just people need to know how to take care of this type of animal. It is the difference between buying a pet frog and a boa constictor. Both are very nice animals, but 1 may require more work and experience in training/caring for. People need to get pets that fit their lifestyles- not just their tastes at the moment. If you are going to get a dog to just chain up and never have any contact with- then maybe you should consider a gold fish instead... Sorry, it's just sad to hear these poor dogs go nuts cuz they have idiots for owners. My sister has a pit- and although she is a lot more high strung then my black lab- she is a wonderful dog and has great owners who know how to raise her not to be aggressive or mean.

Any dog can be a aggressive animal. Any dog can be trained to fight and cause bodily harm. However you don't hear much about these other dogs because people don't want to hear about the golden retriever that malled a child or a chow that bit someones face off. You only hear about Pit bulls and Rots! I believe it is mostly the owners fault for not training the dog to be a pet. Instead they mistreat and trained them to be aggressive. I have owned many types of dogs and a Pit has been the best of them all. My Queensland Healer is more aggressive than my Pit is. However you don't hear about Queensland on the news do you?

well like you said this is just MY opinion. I happen to love Pit Bulls, and Staffi's . My friend has a purebred Pit and she is wonderful with my kids when she comes over. I myself have two dogs, one being a staffi/rotti cross and he is also wonderful with kids, other animals, ect. But you know what, I RAISED him right. I socialized him all the time as a small puppy, and he is now two and we still take him out around a lot of people. I'll tell you what when I see and hear my neighbors Golden that dog seems like it wants to rip someone apart. Is it that my neighbors are bad owners or the fact that any dog can be mean when not properly taught. So to fully answer your question I love the Breed!

Every pit bull that I have ever interacted with has been sweet and loving (and a bit of a clown). But I would never own one. I have seen the results of a pit bull attacking another dog, ripping a huge hole in its throat. This was a violent and unprovoked attack---not a couple of dogs trying to show dominance in the pack, or chasing off a strange dog. The pit bull was not a trained fighter, he was a family dog. Sorry, I could never take that chance.

No such thing is a bad dog just bad owners. I hate animal prejudice. I work in shelter and get asked the dumbest questions or told the dumbest things.

Because Pit Bulls are the main type of dog that attack humans, people think they are bad to the bone when it's really the owner's fault for teasing him and teaching him to be straight up evil. One of my dogs are half bull dog but he's a little cry baby. It's mostly all the owner's fault.sometimes.
