I ask one simple question about my dog and everyone assumes that all I want is money. First of all, my cocker spaniel is not a peeing machine. She is a trained young dog who everyone will love. I don't want her to have puppies just for the money. I love dogs more than anything. Having more dogs in the world would lighten up my day. Why does everyone have to assume I'm a money craving catastrophe causer!?

that; their worst pet pup is capable of producing the finest get ever produced in the breed? That best to best will produce both the top of the gene bank and the bottom specimen, but there is no guarantee!! You are simply increasing the good traits but the flaws are not simply vanishing, they will show up.After years of line breeding, a pet pup is just as able to throw a genetically sound litter as his best littermate! So is that why hands down are given? To discourage the truth being exposed? Am I wrong or does it seem Whenever an answer hits close to the pocketbook; you receive quite a few "thumbs down" Do you suppose these "ethical puppy hawkers" dont want those "who know", by years of experiance--what a pups value is and why it holds this value-- to make any of their future market skeptical or suspicious about the pricing and contracts?? Skeptical enough to seek out reputable yet REASONABLY priced kennels or home breeders??

I am so tired of that question I find it difficult to enter this category. There should be a law, if you can't think of a name for your own dog, you can't have one.........................

What kind breed is it? Why did you choose this type of dog? And did you rescue it, or did you buy it from a breeder? I was just wondering.

He actully does really well to not go in the house. A few accidents here & there but not bad. I have an older pomerainian, female, who has "adopted" him somewhat & had been told its much easier to train a puppy with an older dog as an example. We have a doggie door & at 1st crated the puppy. As soon as we would let him out he would potty on the porch. We then got a larger "pup tent" crate that both the yorkie & pom share that I put in front of the doggie door so that he could only go in the yard to "break" the habit of using a corner of the porch. After 3 weeks, I decided to test whether or not this had "broke" the habit. After 2 days of not going on the porch, he has started back to the old habit. I don't know how to stop this & am afraid once we finish closing in the porch to be an additional "living room", he'll continue to do his business in there.

My dog was just outside throwing up a LOT of bright yellow liquid. What is this from? He is an 18 month old Rottie/Pitbull that chews a lot, he does tend to eat what he chews if no one is around to stop him from chewing, but we have been home all day and he has not done any chewing lately. He gets only dry food, once a day at about 5- he hasn't been fed yet today. He also gets a dog biscuit for large breeds, 1 in the morning, 1 at about noon, and 1 in the evening. He always has fresh water available, and he drinks a lot (we think due to the fact that we only give him dry food). He was not interested in drinking when he came back inside. He has done this before. What is going on? And why in the world would it be this color?

Does this seem reputable? What are the pro/cons of doing something like this? My dad has taken a liking to this idea and our dog died last year, he is ready for another one and I want to make sure he does not get duped or end up with a puppy mill dog or something. This idea is new to me (although they have been doing this for 25 years apparently) I'm more of an in-person type.

Has anyone had their dog devocalised (larynx removed to prevent barking) or known a dog that has been devocalised?

What are the reasons for having it done and how has the dog been since having it done? I would literally just like to know more about this from first-hand views - I promise not to add any more comments or even issue any thumbs down for people in favour of devocalisation!
(and would appreciate it if no one else adds thumbs down to answers, this is just a poll not a debate)

One of my dogs has just had an "emergency speying" after being diagnosed with Pyometra (septic uterus). She did not display any of the classic symptoms of the disease, in fact it was only by chance that I noticed the discharge of pus from her genital area. Being male and not having the relevant organs I wouldn't know, but some females have told me that the dog must have been in incredible pain. Would this be true?

My dog (15 months) just went through her first heat three weeks ago. She is no longer bleeding, but she is still very swollen. Will this subside or do I need to take her to the vet?

I'm 14 and I own a golden retriever called Bonzo.

I recently found a REALLY good place to let him off the lead an let him get some exersise. It's basically a big field with houses surrounding it. I through rocks for Bonzo and he chases them. So it's really good.

BUT!!

My mum says I'm not allowed there. She says it's "the back of beyond".

How can I persuade her to let me go there?

I have a company, Imperial Canine, that produces a unique line of pet carriers, jewellery and clothing. We have established ourselves in Australia, Singapore and Japan. We are hoping to break into the US market but we do not know who are the reputable distributors?

Does anyone out there have any contacts or names we can talk too?
