Does this seem reputable? What are the pro/cons of doing something like this? My dad has taken a liking to this idea and our dog died last year, he is ready for another one and I want to make sure he does not get duped or end up with a puppy mill dog or something. This idea is new to me (although they have been doing this for 25 years apparently) I'm more of an in-person type.

I dont like the fact that the puppies only have a written health guarentee for 6 months. My pup has a lifetime health guarentee (got her from a breeder).

I personally, would never trust an online site. They ship all over and I didnt see anything about an at home check to see where the dog is going. How do they know I'm not a puppymill broker? You know? .. (I'm not, I'm being hypathetical LOL)

If you want a mix breed dog try looking on http://www.petfinder.com There are many many many mixed breed pups on there that are in need of a loving home. You can also use that to search for shelters in your area.

The cons are .. this could be a total scam and you could be getting a puppymill dog. Unless you can actually see their facility, I wouldnt do it.

Hope that helps.

I have to agree with the three posts above me.

Something about this doesn't ring true. The lack of infomation on or spay/neuter requirements is bizarre for a "rescue" group. The "adoption fees" are also bothersome -- I recently placed a litter of 4 Siberian mix puppies (whelped by a pregnant Siberian b itch brought into rescue) and we placed them for $150 -- mostly to cover vaccinations and spay/neuter.

If your father can't meet these people, talk to them about what they do, and see their facilities in person, I'd look elsewhere.

petfinder.com is a great resource -- they have young dogs/puppies more often than people think.

Good luck!

Based on what we saw at this site, these are not "rescued" dogs, nor do they look like purebred registered dogs. It looks to us like these are backyard breeder dogs or puppy mill dogs. The adoption fee is a dead give away... and there is no indication that these dogs have pedigree or that the "agency" that is adopting them out is a non-profit 501(c)(3) agency.

It would be better to go through the following websites to obtain a puppy from a real rescue organzation:

petfinder.com
pets911.com
1-800-save-a-pet.com

All of these sites let you search by breed and/or by your city name / zip code so you can find dogs close to you.

I really don't like the looks of this site. It sends red flags up for me. The adoption fee is way high, they mention not one thing about spay/neuter, which rescues require you to do, or have done before the pup goes home, just to name a couple.

I'd run hard and fast in the opposite direction of this place.

Try http://www.petfinder.com instead. This site helps REAL rescues find homes for animals in the rescue. This includes puppies and adults of all sizes.
