My dog loved the water gun too.
Get a coke can and put some pennies in it. I dont even have to shake it, just picking it up makes him stop doing whatever.

Are you spraying his behind?

If the dog is barking at you that is one issue. If he's barking at other people then you have a different issue.

If he's barking at you it's because he wants attention. And to a dog, any attention is attention. Even if you yell at him... you are basically doing what he wants you to do. If this is the case, you need to turn your back on him and ignore when he barks.

If it's the door bell, other people or other dogs then you need to correct him when he does it. Shape your hand into a claw of sorts and poke him with all 5 fingers around the neck area. What you are doing here is emulating a mama dog grabbing him by the neck. As you do this make a loud SHHHHH type of sound. Continue to do this when he barks and it should eventually cure him of it.

I had a barking terrier mix. This is what I did. First I taught him to speak on command. Then after he could do that i would say"speak' Him "bark" then I would say no speak. When people come to the door, whether it is a stranger or the kids, he used to bark. After trying to get him to stop this I decided it was his job to alert me to company. It was a compromise that has worked great. Now when someone comes to the house he will bark low in his throat and look at me. I reply to this by saying "who's here, go see" His barking increases but then I tell him thank you and good boy now no speak, and he stops. Sometimes there is no one there and after I tell him to go see and he does he stops barking on his own. And after training myself and my dog this way, my neighbors have told me he hardly barks at all even when someone knocks on the door. You should probably get a shorter leash until you et the barking under control.

By the way We still have him, He is just no longer a barking terrier mix. Now he is a running terrier mix. I tell ya as soon a you fix one issue another pops up!lol

I wish you had mentioned in your question why you think your dog is barking. If there is a specific reason, he wants in the house, or there's a cat/squirrl out in the yard and he wants to go get it, then putting a leash on him yes while in the house and keeping him with you will help you to manage his barking and correcting him for it. When he begins to bark, you can immediately jerk the leash and tell him 'No'. Be consistent and keep doing this. What you are doing is breaking his concentration; dogs cannot bark at an object and pay attention to you correcting him at the same time. They can only do one thing at a time. Remember to walk your dog at least 30 minutes everyday to help him from getting bored. This will also offer you both a chance to be alone together and to bond more. Happy walking.

When your dog is barking and you know the reason, remove the dog from the cause of the barking. Of course other dogs and people will make him bark, that his way to communicate. I have never heard a dog actually talk which I am sure they'd like to do. So if you want quiet, you must either bring him in or go calm him down by talking to him. I guarantee this will work.

Our dog used to constantly bark at other dogs and people walking up/down our street that he thinks is invading his territory. When I talked about this annoyance with our trainer, she said when the dog is barking excessively, then go up to the dog and tell him QUIET, if he continues tell him QUIET again but if he still continues take him away from the situation for about 30 sec to a minute. I usually take my dog to the bathroom. When you let him out, if he goes back to barking tell him NO QUIET again, and he usually will quiet down. If he doesn't you'll have to take him away from the situation again. When he's quiet give him lots of praise telling him GOOD DOG and pet him or give him a treat. If he decides to bark again, tell him NO QUIET or make a "eh" noise to let him know he's not allowed to bark anymore.

After doing this once or twice, my dog now will quiet down and just watch the people if I tell him QUIET.

Good luck!

Try to get the dogs attention by making a loud noise, some people use soda cans with marbles in them.

You could try being stern with him and gently closing his mouth and telling him no. This only works in some situations though. It really depends what he's barking at.

He may also need something to keep him busy. Chew toys work best. They get to exercise their mouth, without making any noise!

You have to take a training class, then if she or he starts to bark, spray the dog with water, do this for about I don't know, maybe 2 weeks. See if that works. If it doesn't...good luck!
