My dog is a teacup yorkie and she loves to steal my inlaws dogs rawhide bones so I am trying to find an alternative - I have been told to give her a hoof - what have ppl heard about them. She cant break anything off as far as I know so there shouldnt be a choking problem etc.?

I want to get a dog, I even found the perfect one at the shelter today. She is 11 months old and barely makes it to the middle of my calf. She is a beagle/something mix and just adorable. Now my question is how can I convince my husband to let me get her? We have a large home and a large yard. Not much traffic either and I do have the time and money to care for her. He said that I can't get anything that isn't any bigger than his ankle or a pug, but this little girl is just so cute and she needs me (she is in the pound right now). She has never known a real home. How can I get him to agree to let me have her?

10. They will steal your spot on the couch while you are up getting a soda.
9. They will take the treat you give them and bury in the back yard like a paranoid crack head hiding their stash.
8. They will jump on your bed with muddy feet. Making you do laundry…again.
7. They will lick visitors with an uncontrolled passion only they understand.
6. They will cause children to smile.
5. They will make you feel horrible for not walking them by looking at you with deep sad eyes.
4. They will look at you like you committed a crime against them if you don’t let them lick your ice cream bowl.
3. They will cause wide spread happiness in large group settings.
2. They will crack you up by shaking their butts so hard you think they are going to snap in half.
And the number one reason why you can’t trust vicious Pit Bulls…
1. They will steal your heart like a thief in the night, showing you complete and pure love that only a Pit Bull can show.

I have a 14 year old Border Collie, Millie, whom I love very much. She is riddled with cancer but seems happy enough although last night she had a convulsion for the first time. Has the cancer spread to her brain? I think the time is close for putting her down but every morning she waits by the gate to go for her little walk, then comes home for a quick swim and always eats all her dinner. She is on pain relief and sashas blend. Do I wait until she has no quality of life ie/ stops wanting to walk or eat, to put her down???? She is in some pain. Please help me decide......

I don't like them. I also don't like dobermans, dalmations, great danes, wolf or wolf hybrids or any of the toy breeds. It has nothing to do with the dog breed reputation thing. Its like asking do you like Pepsi or Coke? You don't harass people if they don't like the same kind of soda you do, so why do you harass people who just don't like the same breed of dog you do?

I like German Shepards, Chows, and huskies. But I'm mainly a German Shepard girl. If you're a Pitt Bull girl (or guy), good for you! I'm not going to diss you just because you don't like German Shepards or Chows.

They're definitely compassionate, I think. It's the OWNERS, and there are proven facts pit bulls are less aggressive than Rough Collies, which wouldn't be believed because Lassie was one. Little Rascals dog was a pit bull... my pit bull is the sweetest thing, and all she does is love love love! She is so smart, too. We sometimes get stray cats near our front door, and I'll let her out and she chases them away by barking. I've actually seen her nudge them with her nose to get them to leave! I hate the ignorant people who assume pit bulls are mean, when in reality and fact, it's the owner's fault.

I am buying an American Pit Bull Terrier from a breeder in New Mexico. I live in Georgia and the reason I am buying a dog far away is because I cannot find the bloodline and size of pit that I am looking for anywhere close by. I am a little nervous about having the dog shipped to me. What if the package is lost? What if the puppy is really stressed out from the trip? I am a very responsible pet owner and I just want this to happen successfully and without any harm to my new puppy. I feel as though I should purchase insurance on the package, seeing as the pit is fairly expensive. Any advice?

Pet food maker announces major recall By ANDREW BRIDGES, Associated Press Writer
45 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - A major manufacturer of dog and cat food sold under Wal-Mart, Safeway, Kroger and other store brands recalled 60 million containers of wet pet food Friday after reports of kidney failure and deaths.

An unknown number of cats and dogs suffered kidney failure and about 10 died after eating the affected pet food, Menu Foods said in announcing the North American recall. Product testing has not revealed a link explaining the reported cases of illness and death, the company said.

"At this juncture, we're not 100 percent sure what's happened," said Paul Henderson, the company's president and chief executive officer.

The recall covers the company's "cuts and gravy" style food, which consists of chunks of meat in gravy, sold in cans and small foil pouches between Dec. 3 and March 6. The pet food was sold by stores operated by the Kroger Company, Safeway Inc., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and PetSmart Inc., among others, Henderson said.

Menu Foods did not immediately provide a full list of brand names and lot numbers covered by the recall, saying they would be posted on its Web site — http://www.menufoods.com/recall — early Saturday. Consumers with questions can call (800) 551-7392.

The company said it manufacturers for 17 of the top 20 North American retailers. It is also a contract manufacturer for the top branded pet food companies. Its three U.S. and one Canadian factory produce more than 1 billion containers of wet pet food a year. The recall covers pet food made at company plants in Emporia, Kan., and Pennsauken, N.J., Henderson said.

Henderson said the company received an undisclosed number of owner complaints of vomiting and kidney failure in dogs and cats after they had been fed its products. It has tested its products but not found a cause for the sickness.

"To date, the tests have not indicated any problems with the product," Henderson said.

The company alerted the Food and Drug Administration, which already has inspectors in one of the two plants, Henderson said. The FDA was working to nail down brand names covered by the recall, agency spokesman Mike Herndon said.

We purchased our first pug puppy on Sept 29th 2006, he is now 7 months old. A co-worker is giving away a 3 month old male pug. SO CUTE! Anyway, what is your experience with having 2 male dogs in the house, so close in age? Good? Bad? Our dog right now is so spoiled rotten, and sleeps with my hubby and i every night, etc, etc, etc. Do you think he'd take to a new dog? Which would be better if so, a male or a (spayed) female? Just curious..

My 15 week old bichon constantly pulls on my pants. I've tried water in a spray bottle or laying her on her back for time out, but she still comes at my pants and pulls. When I try to stop her she starts mouthing and snapping. At inappropriate times (when I'm preparing breakfast, lunch or dinner) she wants to play and when I don't she starts pulling to get attention. She seems to be getting worse by the day.

My friend has one named Bhodi and he's unfencable. So far we've watched him...

A) Tunnel his way out

B) open the latch by jumping up and hitting it with his nose

C) propping his back legs in the chain links and climbing up a tree with his front paws. He climbs up the bark a few inches then steps up his back legs one at a time until he reaches the top... then he jumps off the fence onto the side of the tree, doublesback midair and kicks off the tree to flip back over the fence.
