I don't like them. I also don't like dobermans, dalmations, great danes, wolf or wolf hybrids or any of the toy breeds. It has nothing to do with the dog breed reputation thing. Its like asking do you like Pepsi or Coke? You don't harass people if they don't like the same kind of soda you do, so why do you harass people who just don't like the same breed of dog you do?

I like German Shepards, Chows, and huskies. But I'm mainly a German Shepard girl. If you're a Pitt Bull girl (or guy), good for you! I'm not going to diss you just because you don't like German Shepards or Chows.

I'm not stereotyping anything. What I'm saying is I just don't like those other breeds. Its a personal preference. Much like you don't like coke or pepsi for whatever reason.

I, as well as many other people, have absolutly no problem with someone who does not like a particular breed, such as Pit Bulls, based on personal preference. I agree with you. If it is based on personal preference, its much the same as asking if you like Pepsi or Coke. One of my own personal preferences when it comes to dogs is that I don't like pugs as a breed. I also do not like many of the French breeds, and most of the toy breeds. But this is just my own personal preference, that is a dislike, not a diss to the breed. I get irritated and disgusted with people who diss Pits, or other "Gladiator" breeds, because they are ignorant about the breed, base their personal opinions on them from the stupid media, or are willing to let a few bad owners of Pits disgrace the whole breed. As a breed, Pit Bulls are wonderful and I will always have at least one in my life till I die.

And a note to Snowball and any others like that, I would gladly be in a room, alone or with others, with a Pit or other "Gladiator" breed that I have just met for the first time. A person, adult or child, does NOT get attacked EVERY day by a "Gladiator" breed. The only reason that some ignorant people believe that is because of the STUPID A@@ media in this country (I am proud to be an American by the way).Over 95% of those breeds are GREAT dogs!!! Its just the stupid few owners who have not cared for their dogs properly or who have trained them to be aggressive that have disgraced these amazing breeds. And even if an individual dog is somewhat aggressive, that particular dog can be rehabilitated! It has been done before and I can't wait for my chance to change an aggressive dog's life for the better and help it to live a healthy, happy life.

i am definitely a german shepherd girl as well. i adore pit bulls and a few other types of dogs including danes and rottweilers.
I despise wolf hybrids because they can be extremely dangerous because it's at least part wild animal. there's a big difference between a domesticated breed and a wild animal like a wolf. Anyways, it's totaally fine that you prefer certain breeds over others, most people do. The thing with pit bulls is they get such a bad wrap for things that are not breed specific and seemed to get blamed for everything, that the people who do love them feel almost obligated to speak up for the breed. I think the difference in what you wrote is that you're not saying you don't like them for some bullshit reason like you saw one on the news, it's just your personal preference. I get upset sometimes when people bad mouth the pits bc most of them don't know what they're talking about. If anybody gives you **** for that - they're being overly defensive. I don't like chows but I wouldn't call you stupid or anything for liking the breed.

most people will feak out about it because most of the time that someone says that they don't like a certain breed of animal they know nothing about the breed at all except for what they have heard or the bad things the media shows about the breed. how often do you see a pit bull on televison or in the news paper that has attacked someone because thier owner was irrresponsible either by not training the dog well enough or training it to be viscious. certain breeds just get a bad rep. i know people who have never even seen a chow and say that they don't like them because they are mean. i think anyone should do their research and maybe meet an animal before they decide that they don't like it. every pit bull that i have ever met has pretty much been a lap dog and so has every chow.

It's because most of the time there are people on here who answer other peoples questions about the breed and know absolutely nothing about them.
It would make you mad to hear someone say that German Shephereds are horrible, vicious, child attacking creatures that should be banned from this world. But I know and you know that that isn't true, just like it isn't true that Pitt Bulls are all mean vicious killers, I totally understand where you are coming from on this.
I am one of those people who gets very angry and lectures those who do diss the breed and believe all the false myths and who listen to the news and how the media portraits them, I don't go around though and tell people who are not fond of the breed, that they are horrible people for not liking them, cause I don't like Australian shephereds so why should someone tell me I'm a closed minded a**hole because that's not my favorite dog.
I could go on and on about this, cause I've seen things and experienced the lies and the truths about animals and have an understanding of other peoples views on certain pets. It's all a matter of opinion really, and it matters even more when people don't know what they are talking about and don't want to hear the truth, and the facts of the matter.

I've never owned a pitbull but have many friends who do.
I personally don't see how anyone can look into ones face and not fall in love.
I know several people who have pits that are very good guard dogs.Evan when I walk by them as they snap and snarl I can't help but make little barking noises back at them and they promptly shut up and look at me strangely. They're hilarious.I've been accused of ruining a couple of them for life because I've looked past the viscious act and seen the dog rather than be terrified and look away.
I think it's sad that most people who have these dogs are too lazy to research the breeds requirements before they buy. They're also too lazy to teach them anything or keep an eye on them.
But I understand what you mean.I own german shepherds too.I prefer big dogs.
But I've lost my heart to some small dogs too.
And like you there are some I just hate.I'd never think of owning and can't stand being anywhere near. And while I won't mention breeds they are all small and have high pitched barks that sound like someone scratching fingernails across a chalkboard and nasty dispositions. And people who own these dogs tend to believe that barking is an acceptable form of exercise so they encourage them to do it more.
I find these dogs to be totally useless for anything other than to make noise and look cute. And that's fine. They can look cute in someone else's yard.

Well, it seems you're stereotyping dogs out of a certain category. I'm sorry, but that is very well, ignorant. Not ALL toy dogs are the same. Not all dobermans are the same. Not all dalmations are the same. Not all great danes are the same. My neighbor has a pair of dobies - one is very hyper and will NOT stop licking you; the other is very lazy and fat, and won't bother to even say hi. So, the only conclusive point you could say is that you might not like their appearance, color, etc. but I don't know how you could just say you don't like the breed without giving a reason.

I don't like Coke OR Pepsi because soda is gross. (:

Most people get jumped because they spew the garbage they hear in the media, as one member has done. People in general that say they do not like pitbulls are saying it out of prejudice, ignorance and fear not just because they have a preference for other breeds.

To snowball, you said "Pit bulls should be banned--period"
I hope you realize that once BSL is in effect ANY breed can be added, including any breed you may like. Hopefully ignorance like yours does not win!!! You really should do some research and get your facts straight.

BTW the person above that said labs have the highest incidence of biting is absolutely correct.

Hopefully the option to choose the breed you love, regardless of which one it is, will always be yours to decide. Its unfortunate there are so many places not allowing people who love pit bull types to have them. It's completely b.s. and against our rights. Other breeds will follow when the pit bull types are gone.
I won't ever own anything other than full-blooded, working bred American Pit Bull Terriers. After owning them, no other breed of dog could even come close in comparison to any one of my APBTs.

I personally love pit bulls. I have a pit bull, I know that they are really good sweet dogs when properly raised. I think it is fine for you to not like pit bulls just because you don't like them. Like if they are just too boisterous for you. I love all dogs, but my least favorite are toy breeds, just because they are too small for me. I think the reason people jump when you say you don't like pit bulls is because they assume you don't like them for the same reason many others don't like them, which is because of the stereotype that they are vicious killing machines. Which they absolutely are NOT! If you say something like "I don't like pit bulls because of their short coat and because they are too active." I don't think people would jump. Because that describes them accurately. Anyways, that is how I feel. And being a pit bull owner it is actually nice to hear someone disliking pit bulls for something other than the reason that they are 'vicious.'

Because most people that don't like them don't because of false information or what the heard form some one else. They don't dislike them for the same reason that say you do. They really have not real reason to dislike them and have never spent any time around them. They just parrot the wrong information on anyone that will listen to them.
