You train him the same as any other dog. How old is the pup? Look into training classes in your area. You pick a breed that demands you be the alpha dog and demands that you be reasonable at ALL TIMES for your dog. We really don't need any more bad press with pitties now do we? Pits make wonderful pets in the right responsible hands please be one of those people for your dogs sake!

Ok, you have a pitt bull.
NUMBER ONE THING TO KNOW!
They LOVE TREATS AND GOOD PRAISE
they are attention loving dogs and want to MAKE YOU HAPPY.
Get a pronged collar since you will need to teach your Pitt to heel, this is MAJOR, because again these dogs LOVE to PULL, get lots of treats, liver treats worked well for my pitt, and they are yummy and healthy.
Start with the basics like, sit, stay, down, and heel. Always reward when they do the trick properly and reward with a happy tone.
Then take your pitt out all the time to socialize, and get rid of all that energy, they are VERY HYPER!
Starting now, is better than later.

patience. dogs don't get trained over night. I should know I have been training dogs for over 12 years now. what I find works best on pits is this. wait for the dog to so something you want like sit down. The moment he does go over and lavish him with praise. Keep in mind the first word out of your mouth is what he will soon associate to the action he has performed. useing this method of madness you can teach a dog to do just about anything and many people find it the most humane. Keep an eye on the pup and if you catch him right before or in the middle of doing something wrong go "gnah" in a sharp but soft growl like voice. For stuborn pups this can be accompanyed by a quick scruff and push downward (never pull up) the sound and scruff+down is almost identical to the way that the mother herself would teach the pup. so basicly just talk dog to it.

some white canines have blue eyes. One shouldn't assume that each and every person blue-eyed canines have problems or that they are "albino" maximum white canines become deaf, i do no longer comprehend the thank you to describe it. mutually as albinos do have white fur and pink epidermis they do have pinkish eyes. this could be a recessive gene, it might want 2 copies for it to coach. those canines have not have been given any color in any appreciate, no longer even epidermis spots. there is yet another sort of albinism. Its canines that look "white" yet are quite a mild gentle gray or cream colored. The canines do have color pigments, in occasion ,their eyes are darkish, and their noses, lips, eyerims, and pawpads are all totally colored. Breeds such like are like West highland terriers, and white German shepherds. in keeping with this, with no image(which could be very effectual), i'm no longer able to tell you if she's albino or no longer. Albinos do have pink noses/mouths yet no longer blood pink....

You have to be persistent because pits are a little hard-headed. Walk him every day and use treats to reinforce good behavour. Make training the dog a 24/7 thing and the best time is while they are a puppy.

Don't think this is mean beacuse it works: To teach the dog to swim have one person out of the pool and another person in the shallow part of the pool. Throw the dog in where the other person can catch it if need be. 9 times out of 10 the dog will doggy-paddle, but you have to help it. You've got to toss him in gently so that his natural instincts kick in to make him swim. Practice that and it will work.

What I did to train my pit, make sure you first off take them outside quite a bit and stay out till they go potty, then give them a treat or something to show them they did a good job. If you see them going potty in the house, rub their nose in it and take him outside. If you keep up with that it should do the trick.

PIT BULLS DO NOT HAVE A NORMAL AGGRESSION BEHAVIOR. Being aggressive isn't in their BLOOD LINES... protection is, trust me. My friends breed pit bulls and they only sell to people who don't use them for dog fights, and they even do background checks for fighting. Pit bulls are very smart (We have a brindle!) And she graduated out of the top of the class at Petsmart. :)

pick up some doggy treats and bribe your dog with them and he or she will listen. if you want your dog to sit. you have to say sit while pushing down on his back do it enough times the dog will catch on. when the dog starts doing it on its own show affection because that's what they love. don't use treats all the time, you don't want to get' him use to that just mix it up and eventually ween him off, when you buy treats cut them into small pieces or else you will be out of a lot of money. plus the small samples will make your dog want to listen because he'll want more this works with all training. at least that's what i did.

pitbulls will only listen to an aggressive type of training. they are not naturally friendly but they respond better when they are rewarded.
