My 1-1/2 year old peek-a-poo had his vaccine yesterday and today he has a runny nose and is not feeling very well. I took him back today and they told me that this is normal. He didn't have this same reaction the last time he had this vaccine. Has anyone ever had this happen to their dog? Should I worry?

We rescued a formerly abused and overbred husky mix and, for her breed, she is very well behaved! Shes very very quiet and calm, laid back, gets along with cats and all people and animals, housetrained, great during walks, etc. The problem is that when we get back form work, errands, etc, we find that the carpet is pulled up, padding ripped, doorjams chewed up, etc. its only for the door that we leave through. Weve tried kenneling her, she just escapes and bends the wires. The plastic crates--she ripped them open with her teeth. Bitter apple--she is way to stubborn to give up because of some smell or funny taste. walks--still doesnt help. kong--grows bored of it withing a few minutes. This is a huge problem and we need some honest and HELPFUL answers. Please no rude opinions. We really are trying to work with this dog instead of giving up on her like eveyone else has
(sorry for the long post)..

I have a female dachshund that had puppies about 3 months ago and i put her in a pen with a male dachshund at my friends house because my dog doesnt like cars. that was a few days ago and now she is in heat? i was just wondering if it could have been the male causing the heat because she isn't supposed to be coming in heat for a few more months.

Also, she is female. Isn't this awfully young for her to do that sort of thing?

I will be the first to admit that a few years ago when my sister first owned a staffy I thought it was a pit bull and would not take my children round to visit but after I did some research I realised they are different breeds and the STAFFY's are recommend if you have children! I now own one and she is gentle and loving even with our kittens I am so glad I have one..but i get fraustrated when people walk on the other side of the street when they see her coming towards them (she is always on a lead) I think they are getting bad press and more needs to be done for people to realise what loving friendly dogs they are and that they are not pit bulls!!! its not fair!!!!!!!!!!

I really want a pet dog, i have a smallish garden, but a garden nonetheless, and loads of time for walking maybe twice a day. I was wondering which breed to go for, as i love Collies, but they are a working dog and need constant mental stimulation. Any advice on what to buy??

I have a 10 mth old lab, and every couple of months she breaks out around her chin, mouth, and sometimes eyes. She has been to the vet, we have used cream, helps very little, even oxy pads, and she has been given an antibotic, which totally clears it for the time being, and I know she cant keep taking the antibotics, we clean her mouth every time she is done eating. Any advice, what may cause this, or other home cures, or what else it could be that the vet may be missing, I love our vet, just curious. PS they tend to be some very big bumps that sometimes break open.

I have a 6 month old Male Staffordshire Bull Terrier. When i arrive home he get excited and two hard lumps aprear at the base of his penis. They are definaltley not his testicals, as they have fully dropped, but i have no idea what they are. They disapear when hes at rest, just appear when people greet him. My family have had Staffy's before, this is my first one, but even my family say that somethings wrong. Maybe a genetic problem? He's KC registered and got full breed history. I can email a pic if anyone thinks they can help me.

We have always fed our dog our meat scraps, with the bone, is this okay? after christmas we gave her our left over ham, She tore it up..... My mom was telling me this can cause worms and make her sick, she has never gotten sick from it? she loves it!

I need some real advice, not just what you think or your opinion...I need to know if it is really BAD for her.

i have a 15 week old jack russel pup,he is very loving and wants a fuss all the time. the trouble is he bites all the time. sometimes its just playful puppy biting but occasionally after i have told him off he will sometimes bare his teeth and growl and go for me. im not scared of him but sometimes i do have to use some force to get him to stop which i dont think is right, but i have tried everything else, i am seriously thinking of giving him up because i have a young child and would hate for anything to happen. does anyone have any good ideas of how to change his behaviour.
serious suggestions please.

I'm looking for a small breed of dog that doesn't shed. I have two children (4yrs and 8mos) and the dog would also have to be good with kids. We recently had a miniature schnauzer and it was great, but I don't want to spend $1000 on a dog. I want to adopt one from the shelter, but everytime they get a small dog it's gone ASAP. Can anyone provide me with some resources in Northeast Indiana?
