I have a 6 month old Male Staffordshire Bull Terrier. When i arrive home he get excited and two hard lumps aprear at the base of his penis. They are definaltley not his testicals, as they have fully dropped, but i have no idea what they are. They disapear when hes at rest, just appear when people greet him. My family have had Staffy's before, this is my first one, but even my family say that somethings wrong. Maybe a genetic problem? He's KC registered and got full breed history. I can email a pic if anyone thinks they can help me.

Obviously, professional veterinarian advice is not given on this forum. For official advice, please see your local veterinarian.

What you have described is totally normal. It's called the "" bulbus glandis "". Check your anatomy of a dog. All male dogs are built the same way. Nothing to worry about. Sometimes it becomes enlarged when they get excited, and not just during mating.

But if you do have concerns, go see your veterinarian immediately and take the photos with you to show him. I'm sure he will be happy to relieve your concerns on a professional level.

There is nothing wrong with your dog.Waht you are seeing is perfectly normal. These are the "glans" that expand to cause a "tie" during breeding. They are there even in a neutered dog. They show up duirng excitement and at other times as well. Rest assured there is no "genetic" or other issue going on other then a completely normal "male" dog response.

im a vet nurse and this does not sound right. he may have an infection in his glands and that is why he is getting the lumps. Another possibility is some kind of genetic disorder. take him to the vet, who will probably examine and scan him and maybe run some tests. Dont panic though. it doesnt sound like anything life threatening and the vet will be able to diagnose it and treat it. Good luck.

There are two lumps at the base of a dogs penis as well as it knackers.
After my dog had his knackers off he had a slight swelling on the wound and the Vet thought I meant this "lump". Thats why I remember this.
If you are worried take him to the vet but I am sure this is what you are talking about.

The two hard lumps you are seeing at the base of his penis are normal in excited dogs. When a dog has a full "erection" those lumps are there to help hold him inside the female while mating occurs. It's those lumps that facilitate a "tie" while breeding.

I've sometimes seen things like that on my 9 year old male staffie, but only in the morning and tend to vanish after i take him out for a wee. I assumed it was because he was breaking His neck to go to the loo.

This is your dogs physical display of excitement.
Comparable to an erection in a male human.
Although your dog is not sexually excited that you came home and will try to mount you at any given chance, he is excited that you are back.
He loves you.

You are not going to get Vet advise here - you have to go to a vet for that. However, without going into great detail - what you describe is perfectly natural when a dog gets umm,,, excited.
