Also, she is female. Isn't this awfully young for her to do that sort of thing?

I KNOW it's normal for puppies to hump. But she is so young... too young to be fixed, I'm pretty sure. She isn't even 4 months old.

My oh my. You've got some dominance issues going on in the animal kingdom. Your puppy, presumably by reason of being bigger than the cats, is trying to assert dominance over them. As a result, spaying her isn't going to stop the behavior. In the wild, animals of many different species use this behavior to establish who is in charge.

You need to teach your puppy that the pack member in charge of everybody in your household is you. Twelve weeks is plenty old enough to learn. If she was still with her momma, momma would certainly not allow her to continue doing this. At least not TO momma anyway. Lol. So you need to be momma and teach her that humping/trying to be dominant is not acceptable. Once you do that, the problem will go away.

Puppies can also be spayed very young. There are pros and cons to doing it at 12 weeks though. Some people think that spaying this young will interfer with bone/muscle development and recommend waiting until six months or more. Talk with your vet and see what s/he thinks.

When dogs hump, it's not always a sexual thing.
Your puppy is showing dominance over the cats. Competitiveness can happen at a very young age (haven't you seen 2 year old scream and fight over a toy?).
It's normal, dont' be concerned.

LOL - It's normal for puppies, even females, to go through a humping stage - She's a little young, but everyone develops differently!

No this is not strange at all, most dogs humps stuff actually, like peoples legs and cuddly toys.

To stop this altogether, you just need to go to the vet and get her spayed. It doesnt hurt them at all and its quite cheap especially if you go to your local RSPCA. If you are on a low-income then the PDSA will do it for free.

Don't worry though, its normal, she is fake mating.

Don't be so sexually obsessed. It's just playing. Besides female dogs don't hump. They get humped.

yes then again a girl dog doesn't usually hump anything. you need to talk to your vet and tell him what is going on with her because you have yourself ONE VERY CONFUSED PUP!
