That's a lab for you - They'll eat anything they can!

Peat gravel should make it's way out just fine - Mine has eaten much worse over the years and it all seems to come out in the end!

The reason most dogs eat strange stuff like rocks and feces is because they are missing some thing in their diet and they are trying to supplement them self's. Also dogs will chew on rocks if they have a bad tooth to help try to break it out. He sounds kind of young for that so I would try a dog vitamin, supplement, and give him some chew toys to work with as well to keep him occupied.

you are destined to see the vet it is very bad for a dog to eat rocks he may be pooping them out but at some point he will eat a large one and get a bowel obstruction will cost several hundred to a couple thousand dollars in vet bills to surgically remove them

that is a bad habit - many retrievers do that... i would get a bucket and fill it with tennis balls, toys, tuggies etc. leave the bucket in a place easily accessible to the pup... then when you see him getting interested in the rocks.. a loud, sharp, AHHHHH NO and then in a happy voice show him the bucket of toys,, throw a ball for him - play with him.. sometimes the rocks don't pass and this would be great cause for concern... Lots of play, an attention should almost immediately fix this problem... remember you can outsmart the dog..

Every time you see your puppy eat rocks scold him with a harsh "No." He is also probably bored and teething and looking for something to bite on that is hard. You should try getting him some chew toys and chew bones. That would deffinetly help a lot. Hope this helps!!

He is most likely looking, instinctively for calcium or iron or others. Get some puppy vitamin's from your Vet or Pet store.
At least he's not eating the cat cigars.

it is bad for him for certain. he won't always poop them out, he may in future get an obstructed bowel, a tear inside, or broken teeth. Please consult your vet for a spray, such as "Sour Apple" that will turn him off eating the gravel.

Havn't really heard much of dogs doing this but some birds do it to help break down their food so maybe thats what your dog is trying to do. They also will also eat grass if it has worms
