I first want to thank all of you who answered my question of the sleeping puppy. I need to get him his shots. when we got him at 9 week old we did not know that the original owners should have given him shots but they said that they would give us the list of shot he needs to take. and they never gave it. i want to know what shots he should take apart from the mandatory rabies shot. i called the vet and she named a number of shots. but i want to know which are the ones he must take. Thank you for your imput.

I cannot believe how many people think this breed is dangerous.
I own an Akita and he is the friendliest dog going. He has never barked or growled at another dog and has shown no signs of aggression towards humans. People judge this breed unfairly and I do not undertand why? The Question: Should we blame the owners and not the breed. Is a pit bull vicious or is it the owners that make them that way? If you love or like the Akita please let me know here - Thanks.

I've always had dogs, but now I would love a yorkie. It's really important that they are good tempered and not too yappy, because I have neighbours who are a bit intolerant.

We have a beautiful purebred German Shepherd that we may have to get rid of in order to be able to move out of our current living situation. What can we do? I really don't wanna get rid of my dog, but I'm torn between doing what's best for my kids and what's best for my dog...Any suggestions?

I have a two year old pug who was attacked by another dog about a year ago. Since that time, about once a month, in the middle of the night, he wakes up snarling and barking andon the attack. In his waking life he would not hurt a fly. What can I do to stop this?

My Staff/Boxer mix always barks at people when they walk by our yard when shes out in the back yard, and she also barks at squirls in the tree for a long time. Since she barks a lot people are scard of her because she looks mostly like a staff, but is bigger than one since she is part boxer too. She is really sweet and wouldn't hurt a fly (well atually she would, but not a person), and a lot of people are scard of her because she barks. What should I do? Iv'e tryed training.

Okay, this is a very non-interesting question, and I'm sorry, but I've tried everyones advice for different dog foods, with no prevail for my sensative pooch. Hes around 8lbs and 8 years old, and got him from the pound 2 months ago. Since I have gotten him, I have tried:

Adult, Senior, and all flavor varieties of:
Pedigree,
Nutro,
Iams,
Store Brands,
Mighty Dog,

All of it comes back out one side or the other. Mighty Dog was the worse, I found puke and accidents all over the house.

The wierd thing: this dog can eat all table scraps without any digestive problems, no accidents, no upset tummies. Also, he is missing alot of teeth and cannot eat dry food at all (even wetted.)

Please help, any natural solutions? I was going to try just boiling chicken and rice for him, maybe that would work? Anyone else out there with a dog like mine, lol? Please help out :)

Just to let you know, Ive already made an appointment with the vet. I just want to get some information before his appointment.

Id say it started about 2 weeks ago. I let him out to go pottie and when he came back in, his head started to shake. He was not outside longer than 5 min but once he came in his head was just shaking. It has happened about 4 times since and is very random. Why could this be happening??

my dog feels warm to touch and I know dogs heart rates run alot faster than humans but i have never noticed it before and we spend alot of time together. i did get sunburnt the other day but she always moves into the shade when she's too hot. its summer here right now so i am wondering if she is maybe sunburnt? i'll keep her out of the sun and see if she gets any cooler over next few days ...I cant afford a vet everytime something minor occurs to all you who earn points by simply saying take her to the vet!!! :P

i brought my dog home to my parents' home for the holidays... it's a place she has been 100s of times before. about three days ago for the first time she has started going upstairs on her own and sitting on the top step waiting for us... i guess to go to bed. she'll start doing this as early as 3pm. if we don't follow her she'll start to bark for us to follow her or, after an hour, she'll begrudgingly come down and try to herd us upstairs with her. if we do go up, she runs into bed and curls up and gets mad if any of us leaves. she absolutely refuses to sit with us in the living room... even though all of her treats and toys are here. she doesn't come when we call her. if we carry her down, she'll run away as soon as we don't hold her back. we don't know what to make of this. she is usually a really social lap dog... so it's odd for her to not stay with the family in the living room. the only thing that is different is that my live-in boyfriend isn't here.

I would maybe like to breed them and have 1 litter of pups, but that is it, I got my Bichon through a rescue and only paid 100 dollars for him, whenevevr I search for a female though they cost more than my house payment does, I am located in Michigan and was wondering if anyone knew of someone wanting to adopt out there female Bichon Frise, or where I can possibly get one that I dont have to pay a fortune for, I am looking for a pet not a money maker.
I have tried petfinder.com Hoobly.com and area shelters.
Thanks in advance!

This morning, she had an accident on the rug. Looked redish, but I figured someone gave her leftover spaghetti from the night before. By mid-morning, she had full blown diarreah, and pure blood. My husband took her to the emergency vet, and they could not find anything wrong. She is 14 years old by the way. Being an emergency facility, they wanted $1500 to keep her overnight and do ultra sound & x-rays. The other options was to take her home until our regular vet could see her, which is what we did. She will get in to see her regular vet tomorrow. HAS ANYONE EVER HAD this type of experience with an elder dog like this, and what could it be?? I can't believe they could not find anything wrong at the emergency clinic. Blood work came back ok, and no signs of rectal tumors. Poor Lady, she is old, but always seems full of life!

I mean with all the answers like spay and neuter your dogs that are given to the questions asked about breeding why does anyone give information. Wouldn't it be better not to answer these questions because maybe that would force the unknowledgeable to take their dogs to the vet. This way at least the dogs would get some kind of vet care.
