I would maybe like to breed them and have 1 litter of pups, but that is it, I got my Bichon through a rescue and only paid 100 dollars for him, whenevevr I search for a female though they cost more than my house payment does, I am located in Michigan and was wondering if anyone knew of someone wanting to adopt out there female Bichon Frise, or where I can possibly get one that I dont have to pay a fortune for, I am looking for a pet not a money maker.
I have tried petfinder.com Hoobly.com and area shelters.
Thanks in advance!

I was just wondering why you wanted to breed a litter of puppies? All I could think of was that you loved your boy very much, thought he had a wonderful personality & was a great example of the breed & wished to have a puppy from him. Or else you just wanted the experience of actually raising a litter of puppies.

If it is the first, then I'd have recommended that you contacted his breeder & sought his or her advice - but I expect that is impossible for you as he was a rescue dog. Over here, our local paper sometimes carries adverts from people with male dogs looking for 'partners' when the owners of the males wish to have a puppy from theirs ... I suppose you could try the same?

However, on this page are the contact details for Bill - a Bichon Frise breeder based in Michigan (you'll need to scroll down):

Why not contact him & ask his advice? He may be willing to sell a girl to you on breeding terms ... though you probably won't be able to use your boy with her.

I'd also suggest that you think very seriously about breeding though - there are a lot of unwanted dogs out there already - Do you have enough spare cash to fork out for vets fees if something goes wrong with either the mother (cesarian etc) or the puppies (some sort of illness)?

Do you have the spare time to raise the puppies properly? They'll need socialising & daily handling - plus of lots of food & of course what goes in has to come out again so there will be lots of cleaning up to do!

Would you have the room, the money & the facilities to keep any puppies that you couldn't sell?

Again, hopefully 'Bill' (who was the only breeder I could find in Michigan - though I'm sure that must be others) will be willing to offer you advice & chat with you about breeding in general & breeding Bichon Frise in particular.
