Is this normal for a dog of this age to do this..? I plan on getting him 'done' but not until he is six months old.

My puppy is always eating guniea pig and rabbit droppings, and when he is on his walk he will try and eat other dog waste (which responsible owners would clean up)

Hi, I was wondering when you think a good age for getting a dog for myself would be. I know they are a lot of responsibilty and hard work. I am not planning on getting one anytime soon, as I'm in college right now. But I would like to get one when I graduate in a few years. I plan on making a decent starting salary, so money shouldn't be too big of a problem.
Thanks,

My dog gets super excited whenever I come home, or when my parents do, or when anyone else does. When my friends have stayed over my house in the past my dog chose to sleep in their bed instead of mine. It seems like he really loves us but whenever anyone else comes over it seems like we are no longer special and that person is his new plaything. Shouldn't he treat the people he lives with different than strangers?

Does anyone here use any type of holistic approach for the dog? My dog just got diagnosed with cancer yesterday (found a big tumor in his heart)....I wanna try to do everythikng I can. Surgery is not an option the vet said. Ive heard putting a tablespoon of flaxoil with some cottage cheese in the meal helps. Anyone do this for their dog??? Any other natural herbs or medicine that you use to help your dog heal? I would truly appreciate any advice I can get. I am desperate....It is killing me watching my dog die...or knowing that he might not have much left to live. =(***

He often coughs or sounds like he is choking at night. When I took him to the vet, he said it was just his hair that's making him cough. (He is definitely a furball, Pomeranian). Does anyone else have this problem with Poms or should he be checked again?

Every now and then I'll just see him gnawing away at some old peice of wood... why? Does it have healthy vitamins in it? Is he trying to brush his teeth? What's going on?

I don't know if I am just a crazy dog lady or what but there isn't anything I wouldn't do for my dog. She is a 7 year old pit bull and the sweetest thing you could ever imagine. I try not to spoil her as much as I do but I can't help it. Is there something wrong with me? I even put her before myself. Please don't leave me any rude remarks. I just want to know if there are other people like me.

My mother in laws Pom is about to give birth to 4-5 pups (based on xray). Mated with her other Pom. We are getting first pick of the litter. How do we go about choosing which one we want? What traits do we look for in a 6-8 wk old puppy? I have two children under 4. I have done significant research on Poms, but havent found exactly the info needed. Also, are there specific colors/markings to expect in the pups? The mom is yellow gold, and the dad is dark red/brown. Also, the mom is super sweet though the dad is a bit snappy and high strung. Any breeders out there with advice?

I have a 1 1/2 year old beagle and she has never barked. She also doesn't seem interested when "exciting" things happen like when the door bell rings or if she's outside and a car goes by. Even when I'm walking her, she doesn't seem to care when other dogs or people walk by. Is this a problem or am I just lucky?

I'm wondering how long I can leave my two new puppies (who come home in a week) during the day. They will have each other for company when no one is at home, as they will be kept together indoors in a large kennel (so they can't get into anything too dangerous). Some advice I've been given says they can't be left for more than a couple of hours, other advice says they would be ok alone together while I'm at work for the day. Other advice?

I thought it might be from the weather change but she's not acting herself. The vet said she's fine but I don't think so, I know my dog. Anyone else have one that does this? She's normally the first one to finish eating and last night I had to more or less force feed her. She's 11.
