yes I have a pom he is about 3 years old now and during the change of weather he gets that way. He sneezes and hacks my vet told me that they are alot like humans in the fact that they can get sinus problems too with the change in atmosphere, or alot of dander in the air or surrounding areas (rug couch bed his own hair) keep him well groomed. What I do is bathe Sysco twice a week and use spray on leave in hair conditioner to brush him out after words plus two more times during the week. I use the Herbal Essence brand of course it is expensive but so is Sysco.

It's hairballs.
A very common problem in longer hair breeds.
Make sure you keep the dog brushed - If it's during shedding season (Usually spring and fall) you should brush the dog daily to remove loose hair before the dog grooms himself and gets hairballs.

Small breeds often have spasms of throat/airway. If vet tested for heartworm and looked in dog's throat and Xrayed dog to check for obstruction, it could just be hair.

No it shouldn't be checked as this wastes time. It is only its hair. Instead encourage it to eat more grass, (this may result in puking but its for the best as this gets rid of the hair).

My shih tzu does this. I don't know why, but it sounds like she has something stuck in her throat.
I don't know what to do either.
