If you care about your dog, you won't give them the option to roam. It's too easy for a dog to get hit by a car or get into trouble when roaming. All dogs should be in a secure yard or in your house and neuter your dog so that he can think about things other than roaming and finding females.

Neuter him,as all pets should be and keep him in a fenced yard. No dog should be allowed to roam.

That is a good question. I have a female pit that is 3 years old. She still likes to roam. I have to keep her on a chain because there isn't a fence too high, she can clear them all. I suggest using a choker chain collar and chaining him up rather than letting him stay in a fence. This will save you lots of $$$ in dog at large tickets!

Neutering does not keep a male at home.... consider a fence.
If there is a female within 2 miles that is in heat, forget it, neutered or not he'll get out.

Get him neutered and keep him in a fenced in yard or on a leash when you are walking him.

If there are any female dogs, especially in heat, in the area it will be nearly impossible without a secure fence that's high.

Get him neutered.
Take him to obedience classes.
Keep him indoors.

Do not put a choke chain on him and chain him to a tree. This can cause him to become aggressive or to strangle himself.

I have to say two things: 1. Why in the f*** do you have a pitbull 2. The best way to keep him (or her) from roaming, is get em fixed, or tie em up.

we had a pit bull, and he was constantly running away. You might need to neuter him, although I'm against the idea. That might be the only option. But a pit bull has to have his big balls, it's part of his look, but that might be the only way to stop him.
