Keep them apart. Pups don't really know the strength of their own bite, and probably don't know how to limit it to avoid causing pain in play. Try to get the puppy to meet lots of other dogs in a controlled and safe way, so you can make sure he has lots of positive experiences. Playing with others will help him learn how to be more gentle with his teeth, but until he's learnt how to not cause serious damage it's not a good idea to let him near them - pups are excitable, and kittens are delicate. Could end in tears.

If the puppy is only playing and not trying to actually hurt them, I would just leave them alone. My dog has been chasing my cats since she was a puppy, and the cats either put up with it or turn around and smack her. I had a litter of foster kittens when my dog was still quite young, and she would chase them for hours -- the kittens were frightened of it at first, but soon learned it was just a game and started chasing her back.

I mean is it to the point to where the kitten cries and gets really hurt? Because maybe it's just innocent play. My husky plays with my kitten all the time and he might meow every now and then. Maybe she's just being a little too rough for him.

Kitties can usually take on any dog. My dog only messes with my kitties in the morning until he gets smacked on the nose by the younger one and then that is it for the day. I wouldn't worry to much about it. Cats take care of themselves pretty well.

pop him on the nose with a news paper when he does it and say no. the noise of the newspaper scares them, it won't hurt them.
