Any dog that is not properly trained and socialized. It is not the dogs that are dangerous it is the people that own them that makes a dog dangerous.

The ignorance in the Yahoo Answers section never ceases to amaze me.

Most people who have posted are correct: unsocialized, poorly trained, abused dogs are the most dangerous dog. Unneutered males, of any breed, are the source of more bites than neutered males & unspayed or spayed females.

PIT BULLS JAWS DO NOT LOCK! It is a myth... the jaw structure is the same as any canine species. The muscle attachments & the sheer strenght of the pit can make for a terrible bite & hard to escape from the jaw once bitten.

Dog breeds were created by humans to serve specific functions. Such as a border collie to heard sheep, or a greyhound for chasing down small prey. The bully breeds, which include American Pit Bull Terriers, Bull Terriers, Staffordshire Terriers, Presa Canario, etc, were bred for "sport". Unfortunately, humans loved blood sports, whether dog fighting, cock fighting, boxing, etc. This breeding caused the dogs to have great strength, high pain tolerance, and loyality to their human.

Yes, LOYALITY.. do research on the breed. When fighting the dogs, you washed your challengers dog to make sure poison wasn't placed on the fur giving an unfair advantage. If they dogs were human aggressive, this wouldn't be possible. Bad breeding and horrible humans make these dogs dangerous.

The American Pit Bull Terrier was the first all American Breed. It was used in the World Wars as a service dog saving countless soldiers' lives. They were used as a "Babysitting" dog to watch the children. The Little Rascals Dog was a pit bull.

Almost 500,000 people die in the US every year of cigarette related diseases. 2, YES TWO, people have died in the US of a pit bull attack. Yet, cigarettes are legal. Which would you ban?

Well pitbulls have a bad rep at being dangerous and horrible dogs because of their owners. Some of them have them and train them to attack and have them in fights. Also they are abused. I personally think there are no really dangerous dog. It's just how you raise them. Pitbulls can be the sweetest things if they are raised and trained correctly.

There is no specific breed of dog that is mean, only the dogs themselves. A pitbull could be the nicest, or meanest, it all depends on the individual dog, its upbringing, and the way it was taught to behave. Mind you, some breeds are generally friendlier, or more cuddly than others, but it mainly depends on the terms of its lifestyle.

it def. depends on the dog, although pitbulls are inclined to be very mean. Some have a genetic problem where their brain grows to be too large for their skull which will cause them to have more aggressive inclinations. When this happens it's best to put the dog down because no matter how much proper training is used with this dog it will still be an aggressive dog.

Any dog! A dog is trained to be aggressive no dog is born dangerous. The person it the one who makes the behave how it does. I have seen perfectly gentle dogs turn into mean aggressive dogs with in months of new owners. So i feel it is the own who determines a dogs temperament.

Any dog who has been treated cruelly is at risk of becoming a dangerous dog. Dogs need love and attention. Pitbulls are sometimes taught to be fighting dogs. I guess their jaws lock when they bite, and that sounds dangerous, but a pitbull that has been raised with people who love him and treat him like a family member will be a friendly dog.

Sorry, but it is definitely pit bulls. Though it is true that sweet parents will make a sweet kid out of them, pure breed pit bulls are extremely powerful dogs with a hostile disposition towards strangers. Why are they banned or regulated in many parts of the STATES? - b/c every now and then a sweet parented pit bull gets outside of the fence and mauls a person/child to death. God Bless them otherwise, but that is sadly what dangerous is.

I think Timber Wolves are most dangerous.

Taken as a group, pit bulls are more dangerous than most other dogs. They have the temperament, size, and strength to do a lot of damage. Taken on individual basis, some pit bulls are very well behaved and even sweet.

Dangerous dogs are not limited to a particular breed. I have met plenty of sweet, gentle pit bulls. Dangerous dogs are the ones with idiotic owners. Look for a moronic human; likely his or her dog is a danger to itself and others.
