Lately when trying to move him while he's sleeping on the couch or telling him to get down off of it he becomes agressive and starts to growl and bite at our hand while trying to move him. Help!

Well first off;

1- Is there any sure-fire way to tell if a dog is mixed with coyote?
2-Is it legal to own that dog in North Carolina (inner city)
3-How would i find out the laws on that?
4- and would anyone esle be able to tell if the dog were mixed with a 'wild' animal?

I could really use your help on this topic, because i found this little puppy almost a year ago now, and we took him to the vet (immediately), and he was totally healthy except for some worms (the kind that can be easily cured). So we got him the treatment for that. We've been taking him to the vet regualarly, and he just turned a year old this month, and he never really looked like a dog. and he does this little poses that are a little freaky, and kind of scary (if you were afraid of him) But he listens to me, pretty much whatever i say. Only he is afraid of other people so he bites them. But for the most part he's a sweet doggy, and and he gets along great with my other dogs, i just don't want him to be took

I was told that microchips don't always work.

In fact if you purchase a certain brand chip and your dog is lost if the shelter that takes your dog in does not have the exact brand chip reader which matches your dog's exact brand chip it doesn't read.

In fact, it appears as if your dog does not have a chip at all!

Is this true? Can anyone verify this?

What is the most widely used chip system? I live in New Orleans and my cousin's dog was "rescued" after Hurricane Katrina but the people who adopted the dog won't give her the dog back. I do not want that to happen to me!! HELP!!!

I have an eight month old St. Bernard who weighs about 100 pounds. Until recently she has been fine to bring in and give a bath to and also fine getting her in a car. The other day I wanted to give her a bath and she practically broke my arm struggling to stay as far away from the tub as she could get. I then called the local groomers and they set up an appointment for her. When it was time to get her in the car she totally flaked out again. There is no way that I could get her in the vehicle and I ended up having to cancel my appointment. She is not agressive in any sense of the word but she can definially throw her weight around and get out of doing whatever it is that she doesn't want to do. I don't even know where to begin working with her. She just has me so frustrated. She is actually my fiance's dog as I am use to smaller dogs such as Miniature Dashshunds and Yorkies. I did use to work as a groomer but never had to deal with such a large dog. Thanks.

had a bad experience with a dog rescue, puppy died 4 days after getting. Dog breeders get $500 and up for purebreeds, just want a puppy not a trophy.

My 1-year-old dog Bear started coughing/weezing dryly this afternoon. He is still eating and acting normal. I was told if you press on the neck of a dog with kennel cough, it'll cough; he did. He has had contact with one dog, and I don't think she is vaccinated against it. I don't want to take him to the vet (I'm on a tight budget.) Are there any things around the house I could use to treat his cough? Also, are there any more signs I should be concerned about?

I look after other people dogs a lot.
Often when you tell a dog off for misbehaving they are initially shocked and may be aloof for awhile.
But after a certain time they act as if the incident did not happen.

So do dogs have a short memory (not like cats) and forget that they were punished , or do they actually forgive their carers and accept them as merely human?

My fiance and I have two new-born twin girls. I'm 22, and we're getting married this summer, mind you. Our lives are great, and we have a pretty big house, so I was just wondering if any of you knew of some great dog breeds that are good around babies and children. They can be big or small, but I'd prefer small, and they need to be great around babies. I'd really appreciate the answers, because we want to adopt a dog. We may not adopt one just yet though, but we do plan on it. Please leave serious answers only! And I'd appreciate details about that type of dog. A best answer will be chosen, so please help out! Thanks in advance!

I have a 2 year old male that already has 8 points..one major. Just had OFA's done and he has one hip that is mild.
The question is..do I continue to show him and finish him, then have him nuetered, or neuter now because it is unethical to show a dog that will not be used for breeding???????????

. I’m looking for a home remedy.
Our family pet, a 3-year-old golden retriever she has a hematoma on her ear that has recently worsened, and she constantly shakes her head vigorously, making it bleed. I think it accompanying an ear infection. I've treated for ear mites and no avail. I’m looking for a home remedy.
Thank you,

I have a dashund (wiener) and a sharpei (super wrinkled)mix. I know your like eww. She is very pretty and she's not super wienery(haha)or super wrinkled. Shes really only wrinkled in the face. It's cute. ok enough with my love for my slobbery, stinky dog. Anyway, what is that? I've looked everywhere books, web, breeders. No one knows what she is. As a joke i call her a sharp weenee.
So to the puppy point. My neighbors boxer BOXER, it's huge. Got out and visited my dog. 4 days later a Lab (also huge) mounted her 2 days after that, the damn lab did it again. I don't know who is the daddy. I do know they are both huge breeds and my dog got her size from the dashund shes on the low end of medium. The puppies will probably kill her. But i just wondered what is she? what will they might be? when they come out would you like one? free. I'll ask again when they are here.

I have a 2 and a half year old pedigree black labrador and he is gorgeous and gentle and very protective. My husband works away from home for long lengths of time - normally about 6 weeks and our dog seems to be depressed when he is away. He just lies in his bed and looks miserable all the time. When I feed him, walk him and play catch with him he seems to brighten up but then once all the attention stops he becomes somewhat 'sad' again. He also tends to run away a lot. What can I do to help him?

I have a one year old yorkshire terrier and he was being normally active like every day, but for some reason he has gotten very depressed looking. He has gone into a deep sleep and isn't moving too much. Usually he will move when we go by him. His nose is warm and dry. This all started about 45 minutes ago. I don't know if I should contact the vet or not. Does anyone on here have any advice?? We have had him since he was 8 weeks old. He has never been like this before. Is this normal for this type of dog??
