we have a 5 y/o yorkie (male) and a 1.5 y/o teacup pomeranian (female). I'm at home full-time and my husband and 2 kids are gone every day for most of the day, so i spend a lot of time with the dogs... anyway... my pom is REALLY clingy & jealous of anyone that comes near me. when my husband or kids come to give me a kiss goodnight or bye for the day, she growls at them and occasionally "snaps" at their noses (although she CLEARLY doesn't want to hurt them!). When our yorkie comes to cuddle with me, she jumps up in my lap immediately and pushes in front of him (which he doesn't seem to mind, as i always pet him, too.) I know it's terrible, but I can't help help felling a little "flattered" that she's so protective of me. Everyone here thinks it's really cute & harmless, because she's so tiny... but I worry that it may get out of hand someday. I always tell her "NO" and scold her, but it never helps at all. Do I need to worry about this? If so, any tips on how to "fix" it?Thanx!

it makes me mad that some people who do hate pit bulls. most of the people who have seen a pit bull fight or met a mean pit bull or just seen a pit bull go after someone hasnt seen how most pit bulls live there lives. they are very loving dogs. fun. friendly. i own one and he LOVES EVERYBODY AND EVERYTHING. i mean it. he really loves dogs. he loves babys too. he lets my baby sister who is 1 1/2 yrs old sit on him, hit him, and pull his ears. i think that people who hat epit bull need to spenda day with them or somthing. there are alot of other dogs who are meaner than pit bulls. check out the web sites below

When should the puppy be taken away from it's mother to go to a new home? I know it needs to wait until it has moved on to solid food, but is there a beneficial period for learning giving it reason to stay with it's mother for longer amount of time?

small dogs, like a jack russell, a shih tzu or Border Terrier. Is there any indicators of adult size? Ive heard some people say 6 months and others say 12-18 months.

OK my 8 mos old pure bred dumb dawg (shep/lab/husky/terrier cross) it actually very clever...we've had him two or so months and he's got sit...stay...shake a paw and lay down down pat....with or without treats as incentive.

What are some other good ones I can teach him easily?? I don't really want to teach him beg...for obvious reasons...and he is still pretty clumsy to try roll over.

My dog just ate a chicken bone that fell on the floor. By the time I got to him, he had eaten the whole thing. It's a cooked wing bone. I've read that cooked chicken bones are really bad for dogs to eat, and I'm really scared for him. What should I do right now?

I'm not critisizing or condemning anyone. I'm really just trying to understand the other side of the argument. No smart *ss or p*ssy comments. I want to understand the logic behind getting a pet but then not having it around you.

Does anyone keep their dog outside all the time? And why?

I have a 3 year old pitbull that is having her first liter of puppies. She always was a inside dog and is very obediant. She even sleeps inside everynight. I made her a bed with blankets and pillows for her to have her babies. Will she have them there where I want her to or will she make her own bed somewhere in my house?

We all know of the two I am speaking about. you know..the two people who "give it to you like it is and not what you want to hear" but really they're just rude, with very little knowledge other than common sense? Has anyone ever reported them?

I have a yorkshire terrier and he just turned a year old. I bath him every week and clean his ears but for the past 2 weeks or so hes done nothing but scratch and whine at his ears. I check them and they have a dark wax in them. I called my vet and the assistant said it may be mites so I bought the medicine she recommended but his ears are still in the same shape as they were before I started using the medicine. It breaks my heart to know hes in pain because of his ears. An ear infection is the only thing I can think of that it could be and ever since hes been digging at his ears he has a slight odor to him. Help please.

My friend has an 11 week old Pomeranian (4lb) and I have a JR x Shihtzu (8lb) who is 4 months. My dog is generally fantastic with other dogs, but for some reason keeps wanting to bite the Pom and is growling at him. Weve tried calming both dogs down and giving them treats when behaving well etc. but every now and then the Pom will annoy him and he'll be aggressive with him. Its more than just puppy play, and we've tried intorducing them on neautral ground. The pom seems to be quite indifferent, but the Jr x finds it hard to relax when he's near! Ive asked a similar question before about this prob. Also ive been mostly keeping them both on leads (which I know isnt ideal) but I cant trust my dog to be OK with this tiny pup.
