I have a 3 year old pitbull that is having her first liter of puppies. She always was a inside dog and is very obediant. She even sleeps inside everynight. I made her a bed with blankets and pillows for her to have her babies. Will she have them there where I want her to or will she make her own bed somewhere in my house?

She needs a whelping box in a warm, quiet room, with lots of newspapers in the bottom which you can repkace as they become soaked and soiled. The whelping box also needs a guard rail all the way around about 2" off the bottom so she doesn't squash any pups who get behind her. Show her the box several days before she's due so she knows where to go and can start nesting. Get the blankets and pillows out of there!! Besides smothering the puppies, they'll be totally soaked and need to be thrown out anyway before she's anywhere near done whelping!

She will more than likely have her puppies where she selects and feels safe. However, if you've made her a bed, and she shows an interest in it as a safe place to have her puppies, she might have them there.

My Siberian Husky got bred without my knowledge and since it was a small litter, I knew she was bred but was several weeks behind on anticipating her due date. She had her puppies outside in the open, she dug a hole. But that evening when I realized what had happened I moved the heated doghouse and put plenty of blankets and made good preparations, then moved the puppies. She seemed very thankful and kept the puppies there.

So even if your dog doesn't choose to have the puppies in the area you've designated for her, it may be possible to have her keep the puppies there after the birth.

She will go where ever she is most comfortable, if she sleeps on your bed she may want to have them there. Try to put things down to protect your carpet or bedding if that is where she seems to want to have them. My dog waited until I let her out and had some of them under the porch.

it is very likely for her to choose the spot she hangs out the most. in some cases she will try to hide them.. when you notice her making a sort of nesting thing where she lies then thats her trying to pick her spot. like many said before me puppy birth gets messy so have lots of towels handy .. be prepared to give her a hand with the bags the puppies are in.. have you taken her to the vet to find out how many puppies she will have more or less.. also ask your vet how well she is doing .. not all dogs are meant for puppies always check with her vet.. if she does waNT to nurture her pups are you prepared to do it.. alot of things you got to plan for..
best of luck!!

Instinct usually kicks in and they try to HIDE the babies, I've had to move furniture many times to find a new litter of babies. Good Luck!

yes she will pick a place where she feels her and her puppies will be safe, you just need to make sure she in feeding all of them , if your her owner she will let you see them most likely, being her first litter she will be jumping and may snap or nip so just be careful
