Dogs do not have the same scent preferences as humans; to them, the smell of a rotting carcass is quite fragrant. Rolling in dead animal is a behavior that is often observed in wolves and wild dogs. It is believed they do this to mask their own scent while on the hunt.

There's probably not much you can do about this issue when your dog is unsupervised, but while you are with him, consistant correction everytime he engages in the behavior should quickly curb his smelly habit!

Since it is obvious that you do not have a clue about obedience training, your services should be for free. You cannot train even an adult dog for 8 hours a day. About the most that can be done at any one time is 10 - 20 minutes and that is with an adult dog and not a puppy. The attention span on this baby is extremely short and training session should be no more than 10 minutes and twice a day. Additionally, there isn't going to be much learned if you will only be training for 5 days. Obedience training is cumulative and is done over a much longer period of at least several weeks to several months.
What you can charge is determined by your experience, reputation, and accomplishments and in a case like this, should also include guaranteed expectations. Just working with dogs over several years, is not the experience that is necessary to be a dog trainer. There are too many people who are putting that title to their name and fleecing the public. Don't be one of them.

LOL; I breed cocker spaniels and find that they do the exact same thing! I thought they were just plain crazy and nasty! Not to mention that when one of the german shepherds finds a turtle she will crush it in her mouth (powerful jaws due to her SchH training) and then leave it for the cockers to play with). It is so nasty they love to roll on those dead birds and turtles; I scold them but have to admit that they seem to love it!

A well-trained dog makes everyone happy, including his owner. Take a little time training him, and you'll never regret it; you'll always have an obedient dog by your side. Find more https://tr.im/r0EO5

By their nature, dogs are pack animals with a well-defined social order. Through basic training, you need to consistently make sure your puppy understands that you are the leader, not him. So in teaching him the basic rules, you take on the role of pack leader.

To fit into the family circle, your dog must be taught to recognize his name and such commands as come, heel, lie down and sit.

Dogs like dirty things and it's fun for them. Whenever my spaniel does this, ususally with poop though, I catch him in the act and give him a correction. A firm NO and a shake by the scruff and he gets it. If your dog doesn't respong to simple corrections, get an electric collar. I promise you the behavior will be gone in a day. You can even use the collar to keep the dog from doing this when you are not home. Simply correct him with a shock when he even acts like he will roll with out saying a word--dont' use no at all.

It's just like us putting on perfume ! they think they smell wonderful when they have rolled in something disgusting. My Golden Retriever once rolled in ecstasy in a dead fish for about 20 minutes before I caught up with her on our walk. You've just got to keep your wits about you and your eyes open for any tempting doggy perfume.

It is not fun,,,or 'like perfume to them' certain breeds have a need to cover their scent. It is natural and goes back to their roots. it is something that comes with gun dogs terriers, spaniels and the like. they cover their own scent so that they can hunt prey and not be detected. It is something that you will have to be put up with with certain breeds.
