No, they're not. Scientists have recently shown that they're able to see certain colours (I think red and blue, but not green or yellow). And they can see the colours better when they're contrasting, like a red ball on green grass, but not if the colours are similar, like a yellow ball on a green field.

Most resources say they are.......and it fits their lifestyle if you think about it so I usually say yes. Dogs don't need to see colors........colors do not help them survive. A dog will see movement before anything else. Also, when puppies are born, they are born with their ears and eyes closed. Their noses are open and this is the most important thing for them. Then the ears open then the eyes. Seeing is their last defense.

NO! They see in colors just not they way we do. I had a rottie that KNEW the colors of our trucks. And he hated ALL red trucks! Anytime a red truck would drive by he would pounce the fence line growling and growl at one if one happened to pull into our driveway (not the person driving just at the truck itself).

I don't think they can see colors as clearly as we do but shades of colors; of course no one can ever be 100% sure, scientists included, since dogs can't speak to us.

Dogs' color vision is similar to that of color-blind humans, and they don't see in black and white, they can see colors, just in different shades than humans! The link below shows you pictures comparison of how human see, and how dogs see. Check it out! :)

I use to think so... but I swear my baby knows the color of our truck. Sometimes I actually tell him "the red one" if he is going towards the green one and he turns around and goes straight to the red one. lol Just yesterday when we were done taking our walk he didnt want to come in our building because a strange car was parked in front... it was like he thought we were at the wrong building.

Dogs see mostly in black and white but some breeds can see certain colors. I know many dogs can see blue.
