I have an eight month old St. Bernard who weighs about 100 pounds. Until recently she has been fine to bring in and give a bath to and also fine getting her in a car. The other day I wanted to give her a bath and she practically broke my arm struggling to stay as far away from the tub as she could get. I then called the local groomers and they set up an appointment for her. When it was time to get her in the car she totally flaked out again. There is no way that I could get her in the vehicle and I ended up having to cancel my appointment. She is not agressive in any sense of the word but she can definially throw her weight around and get out of doing whatever it is that she doesn't want to do. I don't even know where to begin working with her. She just has me so frustrated. She is actually my fiance's dog as I am use to smaller dogs such as Miniature Dashshunds and Yorkies. I did use to work as a groomer but never had to deal with such a large dog. Thanks.

A LOT of big dogs go through a "fear" period around this age!!!
Get her out and socialized. Do not praise or reassure her when she does this!!!!! You will only reinforce the behavior!!!!!! Training class would be a great idea also!! Otherwise, you end up with a dog that you may never be able to take out again!!!

my saint was the same one, once i gave her a bath and then she went out and jumped in mud puddle, so i brought her in and gave her another bath. after that she would not come in the bathroom if i was in there running water or anything. then me and my husband had to give her baths outside using the garden hose and her shampoo. good luck.
