blow up a bunch iof balloons and put them around the tree, its claws should pop a baloon or two and scare him off
or, only put ornaments out of his reach
or, dog repellant, humans can't smell it, but dogs get quite offended by it

take all the ornaments off the tree that are in its reach and move them up. It may look silly but it does work. This goes for any tinsel or garland that you may have on the tree as well.

Only put the decorations on the top half or third of the tree.

does it take them off to 'eat' the ornaments? if so, dont put wooden plastic etc ornaments on the bottom
but if it takes off all and any ornaments, do what the dog wisperer does (national geographic) or some form of punishment so it knows not to do what it is doing.
if you go away lock it up...
but I suggest you just consult a profesional... they can tell you what to do

What ever punishment you decide on you need to be consistent and keep repeating over and over. Your dog will learn but it might take time.
