I just got a 9 month old German Shepherd. I am crating him over night and while we are not at home. He crys and whines all night. He tore his blanket to shreds. He is house broken but while I was not home this morning he pissed on the rug. He is walked in the morning and at night and is outside several times. Any ideas?

I read this site because I want to make homemade dog food, and they say, rice, turkey, and other human food are okay for dogs to eat...
Please go to this website and tell me if it's true and that its ok that my dog eats it, my dog doesnt eat the dog food i buy him, but he likes to eat rice, like human, food:

Does anyone else litterbox train their toy breed? If so, what kind of litter do you use. I presently use the pine wood pellets, but the puppy makes a mess of them sometimes. I've heard of using clumping cat litter, but wondered if it's safe. TIA>

I got this gorgeous pup from the pound & they thought it was German Shepherd & Chow. But he's gotten a bit older and the Kees markings have developed on him plus the Kees fur style AND the vet says he sees a lot of schnauzer in him. I have never had either type of dog and am curious how he will look and behave when an adult. He is 11 weeks now.

first of all, my husband isn't mean...he just doesn't want a pet right now. he is currently deployed to the middle east, and i decided it would be a good time for me to get a dog. my friend had one they didn't want anymore(they already have 3 dogs), so i decided to adopt him. he is a 1 1/2 year old yellow lab, named duke(yeah, you guys probably know me by now..i keep asking so many questions about him! hehe). duke is so cute and lovable, i didn't want to see them take him to the pound. my hubby said to wait until he got back and we could discuss getting a dog. well, i begged him over the phone and he gave in. but now every time i talk about duke, he doesn't show interest. should i really care what he thinks? he is worried duke will be attached and protective of me, and show aggression towards him when he returns..that doesn't bother me, i am kinda expecting it, since i am duke's owner. i really love my dog, and right now i am not caring what my husband thinks. is that ok?

Is there anyone out there who has traveled with dogs across states in a U-haul??? We have two dogs (about 70 lbs each) and are moving from Denver to New Orleans at the end of the year and can't afford to fly them out there so we were considering putting them in the U-haul in Kennels with, of course, food, water and blankets with frequent stops. I just dont see any other options to get them to our new home. Any ideas???

she's always quivvering(a shaking motion) with her lips. we hav had her for five years, she's a retired racer and is now seven. we treat her like a queen and she loves everyone, but always does that nervous quivvering. i dont know if its because she was treated badly at the track before we got her.

I already have a one year old Irish Setter ***** who i love to bits.

Myself and my husband are now seriously considering getting another so that Lucy can have a 'play-mate'.

Do you think that this is right?

We do not have children and live in a three bedroomed house with a large garden so I would consider that we have enough room.

Is it ideal to have a 'play-mate' who will also be loved just as much as Lucy is or should we just leave her as she is?

Serious question so serious answers only please.
