No matter what I use to clean or extract the carpets, my cocker spaniel still sneaks to the same spot in the living room and urinates. I have tried crate training and I have a doggie door, so she can go outside as she pleases. She has no problem pooping outside, and she only urinates in the same places that have been soiled before. I have tried all sorts of neutralizers and cleaners, but nothing seems to remove it completely. Help!

Rooney, my dear dog of 10 years was diagnosed with cancer Sunday. The vet said it was in his liver, spleen, lungs, and intestines. He only started acting odd on Friday, just not eating.
Rooney died Monday morning, and I was with him. What is bothering as much as his death is what happened. He wanted to be next to me on the bed. He put his head next to mine, and we were like that maybe 4 minutes before he kind of gasped and stopped breathing. There was no heartbeat that I could detect. Then about 15 seconds later he convulsed 4 times and then blood started coming out his ear and mouth.

Was the convulsing reflex? What about the bleeding? I want to know what was happening to him. This dog was like family to me. I really don't understand how something like this can happen in 3 days. I'm grateful he didn't suffer & that he wanted to be with me when he died. But I want to understand what happened after I thought he was gone. Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm just taking a poll. Does anyone know what a COI is? I've met a lot of people willing to argue the purebred vs. mutt inbred thing with me over the years, but I've never met one of them who actually knew what they were talking about. So I'm taking a random, completely non scientific poll. Does anyone, who believes that purebreds are inbred, actually KNOW what a COI is?

We just rescued a daucshound about 5 weeks ago, and found out she was pregnant when we took her to the vet to have her spayed. I've never had puppies before and I have no idea what to expect, and we have no idea when she is due because we don't know when she was in heat. Today she started having a clear discharge and she won't eat. Is there anyway we can tell when she is going to have her puppies? And what should we expect?

My dog always seems to have a tear on her snout and I was wondering if that could be some type of allergy? Or should I call the vet?

My dog is about 3 years old and we've had her since she was a puppy. From day one, she has been scared of any type of hard floor like tile, hardwood, etc. She always prefers carpeted rooms and this is sometimes a problem because a majority of our house has hard wood floors. She won't even chase her toys into the hard floor areas and i've had to put little rugs in front of her food and water to get her to stand there! My question is basically how do you think I can get her "over" this, so she grows accustomed to them. Any ideas?

I have owned mutts my whole life. I have had healthy mutts and sick mutts, big mutts and little mutts. My current dog is the only purebred I have ever owned. My question is, what is the big deal with the mutt/purebred controversy? Why does it matter?

Why do some people insist that mutts are "smarter" and "healthier" and cite ridiculous reasons like inbreeding? Are people unaware that purebreds, unless bred for the conformation ring, are less inbred than the people accusing them of being inbred? I mean that, every person is inbred, and dogs are no exception, they are just usually less inbred than people because such care is taken (if you get the dog from a good breeder).

Why do people insist that mutts are heartier? They suffer from the same diseases, genetic and environmental, that purebreds do.

Where does this argument come from, and what is your stance?

Anyone in Texas doing agility work with their dog? I want to know how to get started in the sport, and I hear lots about other states, but not much about Texas. My 9 week old Golden is enrolled in puppy agility.

I want a dog who doesn't shed much at all but is a larger breed with very little health problems. I want a male puppy and I want it to be quiet, trainable, low cost, little maintenance, likes other animals, and is lovable and likes to cuddle.

We got a puppy about a month ago. She is PERFECT! The way we USUALLY potty train is to rub their nose in it and put them outside when they eliminate in the house. We did that for her the first few days and it seemed ok, then we watched a training video that says don't do that. So we started following the training video, she has now regressed. When I pick up her poo I put it outside where I want her to go. This morning I started a new technique, when she goes outstide I give her a HUGE treat, todays is steak, (just a little piece) Started first thing this morning and I haven't found an accident yet. The BIGGEST Thing is that she gives me NO SIGN absolutely NONE that she is going to pee. Yesterday she was walking and just stopped and peed standing, I had NO clue it was about to happen. How do I get her to whine or let me know she has to go out? And how often should I be taking her out?
