Dogs in the BACK of a U-Haul?
Definitely NOT unless there is someone riding back there with them who can signal the driver if it's too hot or cold. And in most places, it's illegal for a person to ride in the back of a truck or trailer - because it isn't safe. Let the dogs ride up front or take them in another car or van where they can have air conditioning and heat, too!
In an accident, your dogs could be seriously injured or killed by furniture and boxes shifting around. And you could be charged with animal cruelty.

It would be beyond horrible, there is not enough air in the back of a U-Haul.
There would be a VERY high chance you dogs would suffocate.
I cant think of a more painful way to die.
If flying is out of the question (LOL I know how expensive that is)
You were willing to make frequent stops for the dogs anyway.....make the move at night, while it is a lot cooler.
It would be better to stuff the dogs in the floorboard between the passengers feet than have them in the back of the U-Haul.
I made the trip from Mississippi to Alabama with all I could stuff in my SMALL car, 7 adult dogs (1 heavy pregnant) and 2 moms with newborn litters.
It was my first litters in nearly a year, everybody had been on a rest or were too young to breed.
Then Katrina decided to visit.
That was a trip of a lifetime, even crowded with dogs coming out my ears, I was more comfortable knowing exactly how my bunch was doing, I could see them every minute.
If something were to happen to your dogs in the U-Haul, you would never get over it.
It will be much better to travel at night (cooler, less traffic) and the dogs will naturally want to sleep most of the way. Even if the dogs have to pile on top of each other....the alternative in out of the question.

I wouldn't suggest putting them in the back of the U-Haul. They won't get any fresh air. You could put them in the cab with you if there's enough room...but use caution. They could be injured in a collision, and some U-Hauls leak chemicals in the cab that could kill them if they lick it. Check with your vet to see what they think. They should go to the vet before your trip anyway for a checkup and health certificates. These are required for interstate travel with pets, and you'll get in big trouble if you're stopped and don't have these. They just certify that your dogs are healthy enough to travel, not a health threat to other animals, and they are current on their shots. Do you have a personal vehicle that will be driven for this trip? If so, they should really go in there.

That is not a good idea. If you put them back in with all your furniture and boxes and belonging, you don't know what kind of condition they'll end up in when you get there. The cages could get jostled around, etc, plus I don't know how good the ventilation is in a U-Haul. Do you have a big car? Could they fit in the back seat? It just seems inhumane to stick them in the back of a U-Haul.

Try this website.. www.truckers4truckers.com and click on the link Operation Roger. They may be able to help you out on this. What happens is you contact the owner of that site and truckers can transport the dogs for you in the cab of their truck. It may take some time to get them where they need to be but at least it'll be in a cool truck. good luck

I think a U-Haul would be a rough ride for them. Please take them in your car with lots of stops and plenty of food and water.
Take the water they are used to with you to avoid up-set stomach, also ask the pet for travel pills.

i am going to't imagine that you'll favor to leave a loved puppy behind even as you went back by your self united states of america for 2 to three years. even as and in case you observed your puppy back, it might now not be your puppy even with the undeniable fact that the puppy of whomever took care of it even as you've been gone. this is not honest to the puppy both way. in case you leave it, then it can ought to come across approaches to regulate to a distinct proprietor. as quickly because it does, then you truthfully come back and take it faraway from that proprietor and in view that it may't bear in mind you, it can ought to get used to a distinct proprietor, or you all throughout back in different words. I advise you do the necessary issues to take it back living house with you so anybody is satisfied. it is going to in ordinary words be on a plane for some hours of soreness really than 2 to three years.

If its comfortable for them nothing wrong with it but it would be nice if you can make them use to it even if you rent the same kind of trailer just for a weekend or if its your own make them use to it. i think it will help a great deal if they are use to get in and out of it with out being scared cos it can create problems at your stop overs if they aren't use to it
