Pick your dog that you are looking at.

Say its a Golden Retriever.

Research it, summarize it, and tell your parents about what you know and have researched.

Research and choose a dog that fits your family and lifestyle the best, dont go and choose a dog because yea, I like it! Do research!

If you are just a beginner I would say go for a Golden. Stay away from the Terries, Labs, Shih Tzus, etc. I will let you discover more breeds.

Hope this helps and good luck!

That's a tough one. A lot of parents don't like pets because they require food, shots, cleaning up after, and many of them tend to chew or tear things up. If you're the type of child who is generally responsible (you know, you clean your room, do your homework, etc., most or all of the time) you can try to sell them on the idea by promising that you'll take care of the puppy. Just bear in mind that your parents are going to hold you to it, so be prepared to clean up the puppy's messes, and there are going to be a lot of them until he/she gets housebroken. You'll also be the one responsible for feeding the puppy and cleaning his/her food and water bowls, and you'll have to "scoop the poop." Good luck!

Okay first ask for something that is impossible for then to say yes like a horse or a rat. Then once they say no, you say "Well since I can't get it, then i can i at least get a puppy?"
If that doesn't work then prove to them that your responsible. Good Luck

Chances are Mom and Dad want to know that you will care for it, and that responsibility won't fall on them. If you are keeping your own room clean, and doing well in school they may feel you are ready. If your room is a disaster zone, they know you are not ready. If you are doing poorly in school they know you will not be paying attention to your responsibility's. Ask them why not and work on the answer.

Get pregnant and tell them that you're either going to have a baby or a puppy.

well, I had the same problem, I just tried to compromise with them. I brought my grades up to A's and B's and didn't bother them so much. I said I'd help pay for it with my chore money and would do everything, making sure I walked it and fed it everyday, they got me my puppy for my birthday and now I've had her for three years.

Show them how responcible you are and help around the house. Also never complain to them if it's like they won't buy go a sterio or something because it will only make it worse.

Keep your grades up at school, help around the house (without complaining) and sit down with your parents and discuss it. But first, you have to demonstrate that you are RESPONSIBLE.

maybe they have good reasons not to get you one.... ask them why and listen to them, and don't try conning them into one... puppies are a lot of work, and parents often get locked into all the work, when they don't want it..... but if you truly want one.... plead your case, sign a deal with them..... I did.... that worked w/ my mom.... and i did have to take care of my pup.... believe me....she gave me all the work.... she took none of it on until i went to college.....
