I found a dog yesterdat that was both abandoned and abused. I took her in because the the temp was 112 and I could not live with myself knowing she out there alone. I took her home and took her to the vet to get her shots. She is in heat right now and bleeding some. She seems so out of it and she just lays on her back every time we walk by. I am sure she is jsut submissive and scared. She has a huge laceration on her inner thigh. She wont ever go into the backyard. She seems scared of everthing. Does anyone have any advice to make her feel loved and cared for. My other dog has taken to her and seems to really like her.

My basic requirement is that given it is properly cared for, it should temperametaly be docile, highly dependable and v gentle lap dog who is never yappy.. Please give your opinions about the good and bad points, pleasures and problems that I will have to face living with my bullnese. Thanks.

I am thinking of taping them. Anyone out there who has had a pom with "lazy" ears? How old was it when it's ears stood up? Any advice for taping a pom's ears. I will not have them cropped, he will just have to have floppy ears. He is full blooded, we looked at both parents and the grand father all their ears were standing. Help!

I recently moved in with my boyfriend 2 months ago. He has a golden retriever and she gets along good with my 2 year old chihuahua. 2 weeks ago my boyfriend and I went to Florida for a week. My dog stayed with my mom. My dog loves staying with my mom and never has any problems when she visits. But I've noticed that ever since we came home, she has been acting differently. Peeing on our bed and pillows and not lifting her tail while pooing. When I take her outside, she doesn't want to do anything. All she does is run across the driveway to my boyfriend's car like we are going to go somewhere. When I try to bring her in the house, she refuses to go. At first she only acted like this toward my boyfriend, but now she's doing it to me. Could she be having separation anxiety? If so, is it from being away from me or my mom?

I'm currently looking at purchasing an APBT puppy that is "show quality" and that comes from a lineage rich in show Champions. What is the difference between this dog and taking in a dog that doesn't come from a lineage of "Grand Champions"? What are the added responsabilities and expectations that a breeder may have upon someone who purchases one of these pups from them?

I have a 20 month (1 year 8 month) old american staffordshire terrier (female). She lives in our house and she is really great. We all love her as much as we can and she loves us too. We live in a house with quite a large fenced garden and just 5 meters from forest where we take her for walks. She doasn't bark a lot, only when somebody rings the door or makes a strange noise (rarely). When she is out in the garden she does not bark at people or dogs that walk by the fence. She is very friendly to all people and animals (even cats). What irritates me is the fact that she always backs down and subordinates herself whenever a dog barks on her. She was once attacked and bitten by a german sheppard when she was 4 months old and we thought that she will have fear from other dogs from now on but she does not. She loves to play with other dogs but when she is "attacked" or barked at, she always flees a couple of meters and subordinates herself. That happens even to poodles or chiuauas and such

My dog has a sore on her right leg, and she keeps picking at it to where it'll get infected, is it okay if i just put peroxide or alcohol and put a bandaid so the sore won't get infected? This sore is minor, but i don't want it to turn into a major thing to where i have to take her to the vet. What should i do?

I adopted a pup from an animal shelter.I was 1st told it was an lab/G shepherd mix then the vet revealed that it could have a pitt in it too.But i was'nt worried about it. It has been nearly a week since i've brought the pup home.He has been peeing and pooping in my house which i can understand and i am trying to teach it.But now it has a very bad habit of biting and i mean biting everything including me.It does not go for a real bite but when it gets really excited it can get carried away.I do leave it in a crate when i am awy @ work or something. And as soon as i am home i wanna set it free but once its out it starts biting. It about 2+ months old. What measures can i take to tame it down and make it more social, so that when i bring it out i don't have to worry about people wanting to pet it.

what could this be, is it normal for puppies and is there a home remedy or do I take her to the vet? Other than that she is a very happy and spoiled puppy. She doesnt even know when the smelly stuff comes so I think it cant be that she is sick or anything.

Our dog had 4 puppies and was nursing them fine for the first week. Then this dog's mother is trying to take the puppies away and nurse them! I don't think she has any milk and she even killed one of the pups! We keep trying to separate them but that hasn't worked so far.
Why would a dog try to take away another's pups?

I have used hair curlers and glue, tape,. I take them out, they flop back down. His ears are huge. He is 6 months, over 60 pounds and thin. I limited his food intake as he is the largest of over 450 puppies she has sold. He looks great with his ears up as he chases a ball. BUt, then he flops them back.
