I am wanting to adopt, the American Bullnese, which is rather a new mixed breed. My basic requirement is that given it is properly cared for, it should temperametaly be docile, highly dependable and v gentle lap dog who is never yappy.. Please give your opinions about the good and bad points, pleasures and problems that I will have to face living with my bullnese. Thanks.

You ae so right. People adopt pets for their pleasure and so it is only logical to have one whom you want to. Some people. however think they are MR. Knowall , that thye know what others should be din and not and so tend to throw their judgement on other people's action and that too in a demaning way. Nor to say, tat they provide no help in giving info seeked - just yapping what they eel is only right. May be a lesson in manners or perhaps in being sensitive to look at matters of other people fron thier point of view and not their own, is what is required. Sorry, if I am sounding bit bitter, but may be this will prvent such people from similar behaviour to others after reading this.
I appreciate the info some of you have given on the breed , as asked for. Thanks a lot about that.

The Bullnese is a combination of the French Bulldog and Pekingese. The French Bulldog generally is not a 'yappy' breed but they are more athletic than some other companion type dogs and need a lot of excersise. Unfortunately the French Bulldog tends to have several health issues, including respiratory and joint problems, both of which may make it difficult to properly excersise the dog. The Pekingese has been bred for its unnaturally short face and upturned nose. This makes the breed prone to pinched nostrils and excess tissue in the throat which can cause significant respiratory problems. The genetic tendency towards respiratory issues coming from both parent breeds would make me very suspicious of any puppy I looked at. Both breeds are reknowned for their stubborness. They can be very loyal dogs, but they need an owner who will be the alpha of the pack or else the dogs will take over. Hope this helps.

Sorry, but untill I read your question, I didn't know of the mixed breed. I have heard of the two seperate, but not the mixed.

They are also called Hybrid dogs. Here is a site for others. www.achclub.com

I feel the same way. Get a dog that you want, and from where ever you can. If from a breeder or adoption place. It is your choice. I got a lot of negative answers when I asked about breeding my dog, which is a mini dachshund.

I know people have their own opinions, but it would be nice, if they were nice and not so rude about it.

I checked out the pet finders the other night. Yes, they do have a lot of animals on there, but if other's checked it out, you will see, some of the dogs cost as much has breeders sell them for. And some of the dogs have a lot of restrictions with them. Health problems, no other animals, no kids, no cats. I want an animal that I can have around my ohter dogs, and my grandkids. Plus, I have a friend who is a dog trainer(has been for over thirty years), anad I help her with some of the training, and I bring my dogs with me. So we are in contact with lots of animals. the purpose of haveing an animal is to be able to take it with you if you can, and enjoy the animal.

Enjoy your dog, if you do get one. They can be fun loving, and love you a lot. I have three mini dachshunds, and I wouldn't know what to do with out them now.

Good luck, and let us know if you get one. Have a nice night.

I wouldn't pay one thin dime for an unpappered male. You want to breed? Fine? Find a breed mentor through your nearest American Bull dog club or start going to UKC shows. Both your dog and the stud need to be something other than just pets. Thy need to be at least two years of age and genetically screened. Breeding contracts either give the stud owner pick of the litter or stud fee, that is between you and them. You want to breed? Fine. Spend at least the next year and half to two years learning. Yes we all had a starting point but guess what? You don't learn by doing. That how you end up with dead pups, a dead ***** or other problems. You learn by learning from someone with YEARS if not decades more experience than you.

I would look on the website provided in the other answers to your question....bullnese.com & do your homework. Make sure that you read up on both breeds used to create this new mix & remember that if there are traits you dont like in either breed then maybe you should reconsider your choice. The people who breed there designer dogd cannot in any way be sure that only the good traits of each breed are passed to your puppy, its basically a crap shoot. Frenchies areprone to several health problems so be carefull. good luck

I have a 5 month old Bullnese named Molly & she is awesome! She is loving, playful and very smart. She knows how to sit, lie down, speak, roll over, (among others) and she is potty trained. We got her from a reputable breeder in Florida & are so happy with her! We looked for a puppy at the shelter and didn't see one that fit our lifestyle. Although I agree that people SHOULD get their pets from shelters, you should get what you want & what makes you happy. Hope this helps. Check out the Bullnese site -- www.bullnese.com

Hmmm. Another Pug mix with a market-savvy name.

Rather than encouraging the development of designer dogs while thousands of mutts die in shelters every day, please consider rescuing a Pug mix from a shelter or rescue group near you.

No matter what their creators name them, there is no legitimate reason to create more "breeds" for pet/companionship purposes while wonderful companion-worthy dogs are euthanized in droves every day.

Check http://www.petfinder.com -- I bet you'll find an equally docile, dependable, and gentle lap dog there.

Please dont fall prey to the unscrupulous breeders of these mixes! You will have nothing but problems with your pet. Seek a reputable AKC breeder or just adopt from a shelter if you want a mixed breed puppy.
