I have an 8week old boxer. The person I bought him from did not clip his tail when he was first born. So how old will they need to be to get that fixed plus his ears clipped?

Unfortunately boxer puppies need to have their tails docked before they are 5 days old. I doubt you will be able to find a vet to dock the tail of a puppy who is 8 weeks old because it would be very painful. Also I would not recommend cropping his ears. This process can take several weeks and is also very painful for the poor little guys. There is only 1 vet in the area I live that will even crop ears, the rest refuse because it is only cosmetic. I work at a vet office and almost 100% of the boxers that I see do not have cropped ears!! Boxers look cute with floppy ears!!

Also if the puppy you bought is a full stock boxer the breeder should have had its tail docked (and declaws removed if he has them) when he was days old. I would question the breeder for sure!!

OMG CANDY! You cannot do that with a 5 month old puppy! Or even a 8 week old pup.. Tails MUST be done before 4 days a week at the latest or they will bleed to death!

I quit docking tails, it is cruel and there is phantom pain , all kinds of problems. And a lot of breeders do this themselves and do it wrong then you end up with a funny looking stub or infection.

Dogs are beautiful natural, leave your puppys ears, tail and dew claws alone and you will have a happy puppy..

You read this site, I mean really read it and look at the pictures, then see what a dog looks like with his tail and ears in-tact.. They are gorgeous.

tails are usually clipped within the first week of life, ears I'm not sure. We never had any of our boxers ears clipped.

i have dobermans, and different vets do it at different times, but usually 8 weeks to 15 weeks,it runs around $250-350..research vets first, you do not want a bad cut...its to late to dock its tail,it has to be done at 3 days old!!and you can fix it at 4 months old..i would get your money back, and get a different puppy!!GOOD LUCK

Tails are done at three days old he is now to old to have it done and if you want it done it will have to be done under anestesia like a surgery.
The ears are done about 9 weeks.
Call your vet and see what age they do them.

Got it from a crap breeder,eh? Tails are done at 3-5 days.

You probably can find a vet who'll do ears, tail( & dews?) while she's being spayed. Start saving your money;you're looking at BIG BUCKS.

uh oh! I asked this question and they all turned on me sayin what kind of dog owner are u?? lol but for an answer that will help heres mine do it before they turn 5months now would be the ideal time to do it cuz its a baby still, as for the tail docking actually wat u can do is tie a rubber band or a shoelace around up to where u want it leave it on for a week and it will fall off by itself one of my family members would do that and it would just fall off a week later .

You shouldn't do that at all. Its not nice and it hurts the animal. If you are doing it for tracking purposes, most vets will give the pets a tattoo number when they spay/neuter it. Call the vet and find out.
