My front lawn seems to be a easy place for the neigbours dogs to use as a toilet, how do I stop them please, we live in a small county town and we dont have fences but mine seems the most inviting to go to the toilet on. Some one please help!

If talking politely to the owner doesn't work, then there are some things that you can spray around the place that may help. I work at a vets once a week, and they have some charming sounding things including one called P iss Off, no joke!

One thing I can tell you that doesn't work is putting plastic bottles of water on the garden, people here used to do that many years ago because there was an urban myth that this stopped dogs pooping there (because dogs wont poop near water), but our dog used to play with them, he thought they made a great toy!

Also, if you don't like the idea of chemicals, there are some natural scents that dogs don't like - not sure what they are, I can't remember, but I know many cats dislike the smell of citrus fruits like lemon, and vinegar, I'd be willing to bet that dogs dont like them either.

This means that in the long run you will win. The hit rate of the strategy needs to be above 50% for you to be able to profit in the long run. An ideal win rate should be between 60 to 70%, because you will need to cover the fees and other expensive associated with betting. Is it feasible to expect you'll be able to find a system that has a 100% win rate? No, it isn't. The best you can do is find a system that has a positive expectancy and stick with it. In the long run you will make more money than you can possibly lose.

I do know how annoying this can be, as I have a neighbor who seems to not care at all where his dog goes either, even though, we do have a leash law here. However, there is hope, at your local pet store, there are humane sprays that you can buy that will deter the animals from wanting to use your lawn for their toilet. One that I have tried and found to work is called NO GO. Good luck.

I saw a yard one time that a lady had placed a small flower garden on the corner of with a small cross that said " here lies the last dog that went to the bathroom on my lawn"

Perhaps you'd like to try a product called Scarecrow. It is a motion activated sprinkler that attaches to a hose. Consumer Reports gave it a good review for preventing deer damage. It will shoot a jet of water at the offending dog and, hopefully, its disrespectful owner as well.

Good luck.

If the dog's owner is not picking up after the dog you can report it to the police because it's against the law to do that. You can ask your neighbor to take the dog somewhere else to do it's business, and let them know you will report them for tresspassing if they don't. After all, that lawn is your property, you own it privately, and it's illegal for someone to be on it constantly without your permission.

Fill up old milk bottles or coke bottles and put them on your lawn.. Dont ask me how it works, but i remember when i was younger, living in a small country town i asked my mum what all the bottles of water were doing on the neighbours lawns and she said it was to keep the dogs out..

Might seem like a bogus idea.. but you'll never know until you try it!

Check out www.havahart.com. They have a product called Spray Away. It is a motion activated water sprayer. It is designed for deer, but works great on dogs as well. Go to Wild Animals - Deer - Repellents - Spray Away. It works at my house.

I have heard of people using invisible fencing, but I have also heard of an ultrasonic sound that is triggered when a dog comes on to the part of your yard you don't want them on, or a "spray" or something like that.
