This morning we found 2 kittens in the wild, and we thought they were abandoned. We took the first one inside, but when I went to get the other one, the mother was taking it away.

The one we have is only a few days old and its eyes haven't opened.

We put it outside for its mother to take a few hours ago and it is mewing for her.

Will she take her and how long should I wait until we go get her?

I don't know what to do---I want to be humane and I don't want it to die.

A wild cat had kittens in my neighbors yard. They are wild except for one that is very outgoing and comes over to my yard when my kids are out and I have been feeding it because it is very skinny. I am guessing it to be about 8-10 weeks old. Well the cat has preferred to stay in our yard now waiting for attention. I was going to take it to the vet and get its shots and find it an indoor home. Yesterday when I got home the kitten was there and it wasn't acting right. It would not eat, it's tail was down and when you picked it up it just sat still, also breathing heavy and fast. (usually very excited when being held.) It just laid in our flower bed all evening. I had my son take it back to the neighbors yard so that it could spend the night with its siblings and then I was going to get it in the morning and take it to the vet. This morning it was gone. Do you think it went off and died? Or could it have been doing better? Maybe it was stepped on and internally injured? any info would help

How many cat owners know that slug pellets can poison cats if they consume them? My next door neighbours found a very ill cat in their garden a couple of weeks ago which was having seizures as well, and according to the vet they took it to it had probably eaten slug pellets. The cat eventually died.
I don't use slug pellets (or own a cat) so it's not a problem for me, but how many cat owners use slug pellets in their garden without considering the effect it could have on their pets?

....can you believe this is a statement I get quite a bit at the veterinary hospital where I work. Many people will come in and say "We are moving today and I cannot place this cat". We are not a shelter, we are a hospital...these people obviously have known they were moving months ago. I have a hard time not being rude to these people, it happens with dogs too....They expect us to take in their pets without donations, without anything. Please tell me how to deal with these people without losing my job. The excuse is they don't want to drive 20 miles to a shelter, nor do they have the funds to donate anything for care.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..................then I get the, "Well if you aren't going to help me, I will just go dump it out in the country".....I am getting weary of self righteous people that think so little of these furry creatures

Hello. I have always had an animal in my life. We had guinea pigs, but hubby was allergic so we gave them away. We had a dog and hubby was allergic, but it didn't bother him that much because he left the dog alone. I really want a kitten/cat, but am afraid that he will be allergic. I know he will never agree to owning an animal (he just isn't an animal lover like I am) so I was thinking of just getting one anyway. What do ya'll think? I have heard that females are less allergic than males and lighter color fur is also less allergic. Again, what do ya'll think? I just want a furry friend in my life again! Thanks ya'll.

I have two cats, one is six the other four. The six year old started to urinate and poop downstairs by my dining room table around the middle of July. I went on vacation for for days and had a friend feed and clean the litter box while I was gone. The second day we were gone the cat started doing her business on the carpet. Now she does it almost every day. She has serious issues we think. What do I do? We also have a baby on the way and a lot new stuff coming into the house all the time.... Please help

Here's the situation: I'm moving in about a week. It's not far away or anything (only about 1/2 an hour away--same distance as her vet is currently), but it will be an unfamiliar place for her. We have 3 cats, the other two are neutered already. They will all be confined to the attached garage after the move for a bit (it's nice & clean, also the laundry area). I'll set up a nice bed for each of them, they should be comfy

but i'm wondering... if i get her spayed tomorrow will she be healed enough for the move? (she piddles when she goes into heat, so i'm trying to get it done before she goes into heat at the new place; she just got out of heat earlier this week & will again in a few wks)
is there anything else I should do to make her comfy when she gets home from the surgery?
how about right after the move?
should i seperate her from the other cats? they get along, but she's little & i'm afraid the others will want to play & she might get hurt :(
any other advice

I've had her for a year now and everytime she gets stressed, she gets an URI. I adopted another cat about a month and a half ago and she had an URI and gave it to the other one! They both took antibiotics and last week, they were both fine! The new cat is very hyper and never leaves the other one alone! She runs after her all the time and makes her get very nervous! Last night, she started sneezing again! She only sneezes about 3 or 4 times a day but I'm afraid it'll get worse! Is she getting sick because she is stressed with the new cat?? I don't know what to do! I want to keep the new cat but I don't want my other cat to always be sick because of her! I've tried the water bottle when she doesn't leave her alone but she still comes back, she wants to play but the other one gets stressed out! What am I going to do, I am really worried?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated???

My kitty, Lilja, had to be put asleep about a week ago because she had cancer. There was nothing more we could do. She was the sweetest cat.. :( We rescued her from a shelter a few years ago when she was a kitten. How do I feel better? I keep thinking of her - she was the best cat in the world.

Yesterday, me and my mother decided to rescue two more cats. They are both kittens, and would have been euthanized within the next week if we wouldn't have adopted them. I hope that is not a mean thing to do considering that Lilja had to be put asleep. I would never try to replace her. My mom said that if Lilja's spirit comes around, she may appreciate the fact that we saved these kitties just like we saved her. Do you think that's true?

I decided to set a picture of her as my desk top background and my mom told me to put little treats out every now and then so if Lilja's spirit does come around, she'll know that we love her. :(

My little brother is grieving as well. How can I help him?

When I pet my cat sometimes she gently wags her tail back and forth, or up and down, every few seconds, sometimes stroking my hand. I always thought it was a sign of affection, but my friend said that meant she was annoyed or irritated. So which one is it?

He has't had any 'aqccidents' anywhere, but this worries me even more as i would rather he was having accident than not going to the toilet at all.
He hasnt had much human contact so is very timid.
This is making things a little harder.
Please help!

someone graciously put a mother and 3 kittens on my porch over the weekend. we live on a large farm so it's not really a big deal except they are infested with fleas. called the vet. she's out of town for 3 weeks visiting her husbands family in spain. the on call vet is for emergencies only. i could give the kittens bathes but that doesn't help the mother. all the flea stuff i have around here and what i have found at the store says not to use on kittens under 12 weeks or nursing mothers. i've tried using a flea comb on them but the mom didn't want too much to do with that. any suggestions???
i know having fleas is very bad for them and i don't want them to get sick! they're just too cute!! any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi there my girlfriend owns a cat (probably a pensioner in cat terms), who is a house cat and never leaves the house. The cat has fleas and we have tried various treatments- spot on, flea collar, and a spray thing that when she groomed herself made her drool and very ill. the cat hates water and we would probably not be able to bathe her. Any ideas anyone i.e. how much would it cost for a vet to treat this? do they sell cat collar things that look like a satelite dish- you know the ones that dogs get once theyve been operated on- so we could treat her with the stuff that makes her sick and she wont be able to groom?-- any help would be great thank you.

Some work men found two 3 week old kittens in a wood pile in my yard. I finally got them to drink some KMR from my finger as they refused the bottle. I can't seem to get them to "eliminate". They are also both infested with fleas...which is the last thing I need. I called area rescue groups and nobody has room. I need help and advise.

I have had my cat for 7 years (sense she was a month old) and the other day at work me and a co-worker were talking and i asked why her arms were scrached (i honestly thought maybe a dispute between her and her bf because i know her and her bf have been haveing problems) and she said she got them brushing her cats teeth, i was like wtf!?!?! and i thought she was kidding. I honestly never knew you were suppost to brush your cats teeth...How should you do it? and how often? I looked at my cats teeth when i got home that night and they looked white and healthy (no cracks, werent yellow, and her gums werent inflamed)
