six year old male, just adopted, was homless until he was 1, been in a shelter for 5 years, because of his size (a little bigger than a Jack Russel Terrier), and has never been given a name. Friendly as all Hell, too.

I am leaning toward calling him "Candlejack" from the Freakazoid cartoon. He was a villian that would kidnap you if you said his name.

What do you think I should call him?

I adopted him from a local ASPCA, he is six years old. I wonder why he likes to smash my face with his when he is happy? Not that I mind, but I am curious as to why he does this....

Question Details: so pretty much everyday i come home from school and find that my kitten stepped in his own poo when he used the cat box and runs around ALL over my room! my kitten hasnt really learned to clean himself i think. is there anyway i can get him to do so? i feed him "wiskas" wet food mixed with "serengeti" all natural herbal dry food. both made for kittens too. he has Diarrea and that's why when he steps in it and tracks it everywhere. so obvisously that food isnt good for him. so what should i feed him to fix this whole problem? God he's a mess lol

Most of the time, that happens. This stray cat that hangs around my apartment usually runs away from me on any ordinary day, but tonight, I had a fresh bath & she wanted to be ALL over me, & she thought I had food. She kept trying to lick me & jump, like as if I had food. When I don't have a fresh bath, she tries to avoid me.

My cat is 17 years old and is skin and bones. She is continually losing weight but has gotten full blood tests and the vet couldn't believe she was so old because the tests came back so perfect. So eliminate illness. Her teeth aren't great in fact she missing a few so she won't eat dry food, but she eats wet food constantly. She eats a packet of wet food five times a day and won't gain a pound. In fact she often acts like she is ravished. What else can I safely do to help her put on weight. Her behaviors and personality haven't changed so I'm not sure she's on her "way out" just yet. I just want her to feel full and gain a pound or two. Thanks in advance!

My cat is 2 years old, and he is adorable. He's playful, very good-natured, he enjoys people, etc. However, I've been very seriously thinking about getting a puppy. I'm looking at the Pomeranian breed. They're small, playful, etc., so my cat wouldn't be intimidated.

Someone told me that a pup would work out better than another cat/kitten because then he would see competition, and with a puppy, he may want to protect it, etc. What do you guys think? Some good advice would be helpful now. Thanks!

My cat was diagnosed with Triaditis, and Eukanuba Low Residue is expensive. Does anyone know of a homemade recipe? Also suggested were Duck Potato or Rabbit Potato. Where would I find those?

My cat gave birth to 5 kittens 2.1/2 months ago. Now I have 6 cats in my place. In one hand I love them all to pieces. They are so cute, innocent, loveable. They play together, sleep together, and still nurse from their momma cat (basically for comfort ). It's amazing and nearly miraclous to watch the love among them ( and also my own love for them). I know I cann't keep 6 cats. They're already too expensive and time consuming to manage. However, I'm so..... conflicted about taking the kittens to an animal shelter ( keep their mom). I feel guilty about that. I also just plain love them. I know their mom will cry out for them if I take them away ( and it'll break my heart). But their care and training consumes so much of my time and resources. And, please....., don't say I should've spayed her, I plan to; but what now? I just have such conflicted feeling about taking the kittens away. I don't seem to be able to reconsile my feeling with my logic. Any thought??

Someone abandoned a cat at my apartment. When I first saw it, someone said it had been hanging around for several days. I was able to pet the cat. I spent several days luring it to my apartment with food. I've been feeding it for a week, but it seems to be gettting more and more scared/unfriendly each day. I can't get near it now because it runs away. Should I just stop feeding it? Food isn't cheap, and I'd like to at least be able to pet it when it's on my porch.

Over the last 24 hours my 18 month old cat has been drooling a lot. It also has several scabs all over its body, including its head, ears, back and chest. Some of them are as large as a fingernail. It tends to drool while sleeping or just generally relaxing and it has never done it before. It is the first time that scabs have appeared also. It is regularly treated for ticks, fleas and worms. Does anyone have any idea why these things are happening? As far as I know, he hasnt been in any fights but he was out overnight recently for the first time.

I just recently adopted two, five month old kittens.
They where found at about 10 weeks with their mom, they hadnt seen humans and were feral.
Both are females, and house cats that will be getting spayed soon.

The cats dont really mind being held, IF you can catch them.

I have them so they are not so afraid of me, one of them will come up to me and kind of let me pet it.
The other one wont come near me unless im feeding it.

The cats are very afraid of the rest of my family, or anyone else who comes into my house. They wont even come out when my boyfriend is in the room.

Most of the time the tiger cat (the scaredst one) just hides under my bed while people are around.
The black and white one will too, but eventually comes out and checks things out.

They purr when you hold them but I just cant catch them and I dont want to scare them by chasing them all around the house just to hold them.

So does anyone know anyways to help my kitties be happy around people?
