I just recently adopted two, five month old kittens.
They where found at about 10 weeks with their mom, they hadnt seen humans and were feral.
Both are females, and house cats that will be getting spayed soon.

The cats dont really mind being held, IF you can catch them.

I have them so they are not so afraid of me, one of them will come up to me and kind of let me pet it.
The other one wont come near me unless im feeding it.

The cats are very afraid of the rest of my family, or anyone else who comes into my house. They wont even come out when my boyfriend is in the room.

Most of the time the tiger cat (the scaredst one) just hides under my bed while people are around.
The black and white one will too, but eventually comes out and checks things out.

They purr when you hold them but I just cant catch them and I dont want to scare them by chasing them all around the house just to hold them.

So does anyone know anyways to help my kitties be happy around people?

I had a cat that was skitsofrenic once. Meaning it didnt like people at all. But we found him abandoned. And eventually he got used to people. So I would say to just let it take time. Keep on petting the cats as much as possible, invite friends over, and play with them as much as possible.

You might consider trying some flower essences with them. You can go to http://www.spiritessence.com and read about their use with cats and other animals.

Dr. Jean Hovfe has a good mixture of essences called "Scaredy Cat" which you could use on both the gals. When I use the essences I put three or four drops on the cats' fur between their ears. If your cats are hiding out you can put the drops on a small cloth and put that where they are hiding out. You either apply the drops four or five times a day or "refresh" the cloth that number of times too.

Your kitties may never be 100% lap cats and the essences can help them overcome a lot of their fears and make a better adjustment to your situation.

A bottle of the Scaredy Cat will be $16.95 - they may be charging for shipping now. Dr. Hovfe is in CO so it will take a several days. to get it by mail.

Cats, like dogs, desire to be sure superiority. A cat will stare at a guy or woman or yet another cat for long classes of time, to coach dominance. Its like a staring contest, assume whoever loses, is far less dominant. The cat won't attack you, it purely desires to coach you that it truly is on top of issues. I even have 3 cats and that all of them did that throughout the time of a few unspecified time interior the destiny. Its purely what they do to be sure who's suitable cat and who isn't. desire this enables!

Hi.. those little guys had a rough start in life, and it was wonderful of you to take them in.

give them time, and let them come to you... maybe buy some cat toys for them, too. there are "interactive" cat toys available (short poles with feathers on the end for one), you could try.. toys and catnip might perk their interest and keep them busy when you aren't home, as well.

i think your cats will grow comfortable around you (and probably your boyfriend) in time... they might never like strangers, however... time will tell. take care.

Maybe if you do catch them, try letting your guests hold them tight, so they don't run away and have them pet and comfort the kitten. i don't know if it will work but if you could, give it a try.
