I have a persian cat who sheds horribly. I don't know anyone besides me who has a persian to ask if this is normal. Is there any way to keep her from shedding this much or do I just have to put up with it? Oh, and she also won't use the litter box. She will poo in her litter box but would rather use the front door rug to go pee. I don't know how to get her to use it since I know she knows where it is at. Please Help me before I go crazy!!

My 13th birthday is coming up and I sort of want a special present as it's quite a special birthday. I've always wanted a dog yet for 3 days a week there's noone at home for school hours so that's not an option no matter how much I want it. My parents used to have 5 cats, 3 were still alive when I was born. Last year the last one died at 17. It was really sad. I know the whole family are missing having a cat in the house, the way they can sense if you're sad or happy and generally keep you company. Our next door neighbour has just died and the sons asked whether we'd like to have the cat. Everyone leapt at the idea but then the sons changed their minds. We have 11 pets 4fish, 3rabbits, 2chickens, 1hamster, 1guineapig. I used to look after them the most but have slipped due to school work but am determined to keep going again. I don't just want it as something to play with that's cute but as a companion. The only really possibly a kitten is because it needs to be ok with rabbits.

We have two cats who do this. One is Bengal, the other is
Siamese/Manx cross (little black cat). They are healthy,
affectionate, outstanding fur people, just, they do not meow!
They make an assortment of other sounds, talking with us
and each other. Do any of yours do this, or do we have a
couple of strange cats?

Are cat toys w/catnip in them ok for kittens? We have 6 4week old kittens in our garage. I want to give them toys to help encourage them to stay out of things, though we have them sectioned off pretty well.

I knew there would an issue with them coming home smelling like the vet. Would it be better to separate them for a while? The older cats are smacking and hissing at them. Even their best buddy Cornbread who was missing them so much!

my cat has been sucking/licking my blanket. it wouldn't bother me but he's doing it so close to my face and he gets the blanket really wet, then i have to sleep w/ a wet cold blanket. i don't want to be rude to him and push him down. Does anyone have any ideas on getting him to stop, i'm not going to kick him out of the room.

last night, me and my husband were walking our dogs, when out of nowhere, the cutest little kitten ran up to us. he had a little red collar on, so i figured he belonged to someone. i pet him, and started to walk away. i looked behind me, and he was following us, so i picked him up and realized his collar was so tight he was practically choking. he was also COVERED with fleas, so i took him home. im a vet tech, so i know a lot about treating fleas and what not. i de-flead him, treated his ears for ear mites, vaccinated and de wormed him. i fed him, and he was ravenous like a little tiger. my husband is mad, saying i probably snatched some little kids kitty, but he was obviously neglected. i feel kinda guilty now, but i think if someone wants a pet, they should be RESPONSIBLE.i want to find him a loving, indoor home. am i wrong for this? my husband tells me to find the kittens owners, but i dont want him to go back to being neglected. any advice is appreciated. thanks!

We usually use Fresh Step's clay cat litter. Recently she has been throwing up a lot. First i noticed a lot of hair in the puke so two days ago i changed her food to hairball formula. I then started to notice something similar to cat litter in her puke. I confirmed that it is litter yesterday when i found her eating the litter. She doesnt eat her poop, its just the litter... Should i change her litter?

Yesterday I went home to my grandparents house to get some more of my belongings. I was outside and I picked up my cat Grey-Bird is his name. He yelled like he was in a lot of pain and that's when I realized that he had a bump under his belly. I put him down, and continued to try to find out what the bump was and how big it was. I was saddened to find out that it starts on his right side directly under his front leg and spans the whole area back to his stomach area I'd say to the bottom of his stomach region. I am taking him to the vet monday, I realize things might not be so great after that for him, I'm just wondering what it is and if anyone who has any experiance with pets knows what the crap is going on. I raised this silly cat. A little over three years ago when I moved to Charleston, he and his brothers and sister were on the back pourch in a plastic bin their mother had left them in. There eyes had not opened yet. I love this cat what's wrong with him?

I found 2 Three week old kittens a few days ago. Vet instructed me to mix Kitten wellness (wet food) with KMR. Last night they started to lick the mixture from a plate.

My question is...what should the poop look like? Should it be solid or not? I'm not sure if what I found is a good sign or not. It was not pure liquid but not solid either.

Just wondered why it's only usually dogs that get trained to do tricks. Would love to know of any cats who do 'stuff'.
