Of course they can. I have a big black tom and a seven month old puppy, so i have used the same training technique for both. Obviously i had 2 adapt it slightly. But the cat can sat and lie down on cue!! That's my party piece. (or rather the cats)

Yes they can, my son has taught Kit-cat how to play fetch with a beanie baby, sit, wait and come close.
They used to hate each other but in the last year have bonded very closely, and i was shocked the other evening when my son called the cat to him (upstairs) and then started doing the tricks with him.
The cat will wait at any given point when told to do so, play fetch when he sees the beanie being thrown, will heel when told to come close. When my son says sit the bloody cat sits!! it very bizzare.
It takes no notice if any other family members ask the cat to do the tricks but will always do it for my son.
No clicker was used or treat offered , its just something he's taught the cat to do lol

Yes cats can be trained to do things. If they want to be trained that is. My cats come when they are called, will sit on command and give their paw when asked.
It has taken a lot of time and patience to do it but is very rewarding.

Sure can. There is a man named Uri and his magnificent cat show. (See picture in photo page). These cats are unbelieveable. In one of my favorite tricks Uri holds a 25 foot pole with a red velvet pillow on the top of it down at an angle to about 10 feet or so. A Siamese cat runs up from behind and jumps off of Uri and onto the top of the pole and in one move pole and cat go straight up to it's now 25 foot hight. Uri lets the audience be dazzled by this for about a minuet or so and then he yells "Hut!". The cat jumps off the pole and into another red velvet pillow that Uri is holding down below. There can be as many as 25 cats on the stage at one time!

Yes, cats can be trained to do 'tricks', but I personally like the fact that cats have their own minds! I prefer them to do what they want, rather than to be robots for my amusement :-)

Yes they can and there are several books on clicker training for cats. There are some trained circus cats- the most famous cat circus is in Moscow.

Yes but it takes alot more Patience than it would be to train a dog. We taught our cat to fetch the ball. Now he brings the ball to you and puts it in our hand. He loves playing fetch

Well Cats are more independent, unlike dogs who live for human companionship, cats prefer to do there own thing. Training them to 'Paw' could really strain their heart when you shake it.
I would reccomend giving him/her lots of cuddles instead!

A cat i had a while ago used to fetch a piece of rolled up paper if you threw it for her. We didn't train her, she just intercepted a piece that was on it's way to the bin one day! Never stopped after that :-)
