From about this age. Start offering them soft kitten food. They will still need milk until they are at least 6 weeks old. If you still have the mother she will continue to suckle them indefinitely, but you need to get her spayed once the kittens are 8 weeks old and fully weaned. She's already capable of getting pregnant again remember.

EDIT: 6 weeks is a little late to start weaning. If you still have the mother, you will see the kittens start to eat her food before this age - she should be on kitten food too, she needs the extra calories. If they're not ready, they won't eat it - but offer it to them in case.

If they are still nursing...let them continue until they are ready to eat. Have kitten food available for both mother and kittens. Mom cats need to eat kitten food for extra nutrition.

I recently found 2 three week old kittens and had no choice but to feed them. They are eating Kitten wellness brand wet kitten food mashed up out of a plate.

They should start eating solid food about 6 weeks of age. Introduce it to them in a softened state, soak it in warm water first. Then as the get used to it use less and less water until it is totally dry when you give it to them. At about 8 weeks they should eat dry food. Dont forget water, they have to get used to that too! Good Luck.

i would say start out by warming up some milk and putting small chunks of bread in it for them to eat. then try some kitten food from the store.

You should try to start weening them at 6 weeks old. I would advise on using Kitten chow to start.
