I brought her in last night (Friday) as soon as I noticed something wrong. The doctor wanted blood work and an x-ray, then called me about 2 hours later saying she needed the surgery. Of course I said yes, and they called today that it was a success and that I'll probably have her back around Monday. In all my anxiety and worry over my little girl, it never occurred to me to ask how much the surgery was. Not that it would have mattered in my decision, I was just wondering what I can expect for a bill. I've already paid $100 deposit, and the preliminary bill that they gave me last night just for the emergency visit and x-ray was $205.

Thanks.

Hey, birdgirl: It was the VET HIMSELF that said spaying an indoor cat was an optional surgery. Get off your high horse. I'm sure you aren't as perfect as you think others should be. And I have since switched vets. Thanks for a no good answer. Go heckle someone who deserves it. Get a freakin' life. Etcetera, etcetera...

Surgery depends on the problem they're doing it for. There is no average cost unless it's for a standard thing like spay or neuter. Once you get into abscess removal, tooth extraction, tumor location, it depens on the time and difficulty.

Best way to know is to ASK your vet, they quote the prices they know of right on the phone, if they don't know then they'll give you a starting point.

I Dont know...My Cousin had a stray dog she took in that went through a heat and ended up with pyometra and it cost her around $500..A normal spay would have been under $100 in her area.

So If an Average Cat Spay Cost around $100 in your area...Its going to be pricey..Its pretty life and death...If you think about a cats uterus being filled with pus,5 times the size, infection surging through the animal...its either do the surgery now and pay or the animal is gonna die!

The surgery is probably going to be quite high...it can depend on where you live, your vet etc..but I would guess at LEAST $300-$400. If you had been responsible and spayed your cat you would not have had this happen.
