my cat has been sucking/licking my blanket. it wouldn't bother me but he's doing it so close to my face and he gets the blanket really wet, then i have to sleep w/ a wet cold blanket. i don't want to be rude to him and push him down. Does anyone have any ideas on getting him to stop, i'm not going to kick him out of the room.

My precious Dixie did that when she got tired and sleepy. I think her deal was that I adopted her from a shelter when she was just 4 weeks old. She was taken from mom too soon and that was her comfort ritual. I never got her to stop. It's really gross but I would give anything in the world to have her slobber on me again! Sorry I couldn't help more!

He's just rehashing his nursing days. I had a cat that did that all the time. Give him his own little blanket. I gave my kitty a soft baby blanket and he loved it. Just sleep with a little first before you give it him. He likes your smell.

No, he won't stop.
I had a dear rescued Siamese who was young when I got her and lived to be 21 yrs. old (give or take a year),... she sucked my sweaters everytime I or anyone else, held her in lap.
You'd get up from sitting and the whole front of your belly was wet-stained.
I believe it's because she wasn't fully weaned as a kitten.
She never failed to suck sweater/blanket materials, seems to be comforting.

make him a bed while he watches. put something in it with YOUR scent all over it, because it obviously comforts him. put a few accessories from around the house that u know he likes. u can tell by if he's always around them (...lol don't stuff like a couch in ur bedroom just cuz he spends tim on it tho!!!).....
and then after ur done, put him in the bed gently and let him play around on it. at night when he jumps on ur bed and starts to suck on ur blanket simply pick him up and firmly in his bed.
after a while he'll get the idea!! just be patient, this is a kitten we're dealing with :D
good luck, i hope this works for you!! =]

A tiny bit of ground cayenne pepper ought to do the trick, or a small drop of hot sauce, but make sure you use a hot sauce that doesn't have a bright color that might stain the blanket.

tip : put another small blanket on top of yours, for the cat to lick, and then you can sleep peacefully...
