bathe him in the shower with you, i know it's weird, but it's the easiest way, you can also buy powder to put on they're fur, but it's not as effective. IF the stench continues, he may have a bowel problem and needs to see a vet!!!!!!!!!!!

When a cat smells bad, it's usually because they got into something or their sick and can't clean themselves. You may want to have a vet check him to make sure he's not ill. When they have bad teeth they smell pretty bad as well. If it turns out that he's just gotten into something, the vet can wash him. They are better equipped to do that. Washing a cat is dangerous work.

Is he an indoor cat or outdoor? If he's indoor only, I would guess he has a poss medical problem. You should go talk to a vet.
If an outdoor cat; then, yes. A skunk spray is a possability. Why don't you take him to a groomers?

He's getting into something outside. Maybe just bushes he is resting in. Make him a house cat and he will smell much better and be much safer.

cats have a gland in their butt that can produce this awful smelling liquid. some cats can have an overactive one that needs to be sqeezed every once in a while or it will fart out the stuff. go to a vet and they can do this for you or you can go to a pet groomer they do it too.

I'd have the vet check him over. Cats don't usually get stinky unless they are ill, or got into something that they can't clean off.

You should just give him a bath, and if you can't do it by yourself, have somebody help you. I bathe my cats every 5 months about.
