There are several pretty good litters but none completely eliminate odor, so need a little, inexpensive help that works FANTASTIC. . - I know so many other people that use it. It is a natural and SAFE fragrance free carbon product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers -little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is great and eliminates odors for a long time. It works so much better than baking soda all those sprays, and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Just clip one or two onto litter box and forget about it. No spills or chemicals or powder to worry about. Each only costs a couple of dollars. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like linens and things. I also think camping world sells it I know you can buy direct which is what I do-customerservice@innofresh.com...
Definitely worth trying

In order to control smells, you need to get to the source, not the result. What you feed your cat will determine how stinky his poop is. I feed my indoor cats IAMS dry food and their litterbox is much less stinky. When I was feeding other food, and some of it was premium food, too, the house smelled awful. It's even worse when they eat canned food. I have 4 cats in the house. Now I use Tidy Cats Scoop for multiple cats and it seems to keep the odor down as well as can be expected. There is no kitty litter on the face of this earth that will take away all the smells. Right after a cat uses it, the area smells. However, in general when you come to my house you wouldn't know I had cats until you saw them. It takes a lot of cleaning and persistence to keep the house clean and odor free. You could also go to a cleaning supply place and buy some X-O, which is the best deodorizer I've ever used. It's extremely concentrated, so one bottle lasts forever.

My favorites are Fresh Step scoopable and Tidy Cats Small Spaces scoopable litter (Orange lid bucket or jug). The Tidy Cats Small Spaces has a larger granule and seems to do a good job without much scent, and the Fresh Step has the scent (although they do have a "Free" version that is unscented). I had one cat who loved the Fresh Step and would be very disappointed if he found anything else in his litter pan..but when he stepped in and found the Fresh Step...he would start digging like crazy like a little kid! Some cats prefer unscented...others don't mind a scent. The key is to scoop at least once a day and when you change it wash and dry the pan. A covered litter pan , if your cat will use it, will contain the odor better than an open pan.
We have several cats so we have tried most of the litters on the market. We even have some outdoor cats who will use a litter pan on our carport rather than messing in the yard!

Quite honestly, this is purely marketing strategy on the part of Arm & Hammer. From several different friends with 2 or more cats, this product has performed very poorly. For my money, and with my cat, I use either Tidy Cat or Scoop-Away (either scented or un-scented). Both of these litters work exceptionally well. Naturally, you MUST scoop the box at least once daily to keep any odors down. The WORST litter you can use is any type of the clay litter as it just holds in the urine smell. Try one of the higher quality scoopable litters, and I think you'll be quite satisfied with their performance.

Tidy Cat is a good brand, but there are different types of Tidy-Cat. I use the Tidy-Cat mixed with Crystals. I have found that it does help more so than anything else that I have tried. I scoop it out into those cheap ziplock bags and put it out in the trash probably about 3 times a day due to the fact that I have 5 inside cats. I also use an old towel and stretch it out underneath the litterbox to help control the litter on the floor. Then, about once a week, just take it outside and shake it and put it back underneath the litterbox. This method has worked for me for about 2 years.

I have three cats. I clean the litter box when I leave for work and when I get home. Twice a day. You can't tell I have a litter box unless you saw it. I use ExquisiCat and I sprinkle a little Fresh 'N Clean by Arm & Hammer once in a while, and once a week (Wed) I throw out all the litter in the box and wash the litter box with hot bleach water. With three cats you have to clean the box daily if not twice a day.

I use Arm & Hammer unscented litter.
To eliminate litter box odors, I use Nature's Miracle Litter Treatment. I just sprinkle it on top of the newly scooped litter and let the enzymes do the rest.
Nature's Miracle Litter Treatment is available at most large pet supply chains.
Of course, you also have to scoop the litter box at least 3 times a day.

Are you scooping the poop daily? Nothing will remove the smell of cat poop and cats don't like the possibility of stepping on a poop (would you?) so scoop daily.
As for urine odor I've found the best for that - and it happens to be the cheapest as well - is wood stove pellets. You can buy them at most home stores as well as some grocery stores. It's the same product as "Feline Pine" but for about an eight of the price. I pick up 40 lb bags for $4.99!!!! The pellets break down into a pine sawdust as they absorb the moisture and honestly with three cats and two pans that I dump weekly I never smell the urine.

I have been thru a LOT of different litters in the past 10yrs of owning inside cats and I cannot go past the wood pellets.
They seem to control the odour sooo much better than anything else I have ever tried to use!
You do still need to scoop the poop tho to keep the odour down completely!
One word of caution tho, please dont use the clumping litters as they can be ingested into the cat, causing a blockage in the intestines over time as it isnt passed thru...and the silica balls are equally as bad in my opinion as they are designed to attract the wetness, so they continue to dry out the areas they get ingested into...not good for the cat.

There's this great stuff in a green and blue bag called "Feline Fresh" that we use for the cat and ferrets. It's a pellet litter. It doesn't clump or make dust (which is harmful to both cats and people and causes breathing problems). It's awesome at keeping odors away-- I swear by the stuff.
