A wild cat had kittens in my neighbors yard. They are wild except for one that is very outgoing and comes over to my yard when my kids are out and I have been feeding it because it is very skinny. I am guessing it to be about 8-10 weeks old. Well the cat has preferred to stay in our yard now waiting for attention. I was going to take it to the vet and get its shots and find it an indoor home. Yesterday when I got home the kitten was there and it wasn't acting right. It would not eat, it's tail was down and when you picked it up it just sat still, also breathing heavy and fast. (usually very excited when being held.) It just laid in our flower bed all evening. I had my son take it back to the neighbors yard so that it could spend the night with its siblings and then I was going to get it in the morning and take it to the vet. This morning it was gone. Do you think it went off and died? Or could it have been doing better? Maybe it was stepped on and internally injured? any info would help

I am hoping the kitten will be there when I get home from work today.

I think that it went off and died somewhere. If kitty was looking for help it would have come back to you.

The time for veterinarian treatment would have been last night. But there is no guarantee that anyone could have saved that kitten.

Rapid breathing is either a sign of a bad respiratory infection including pneumonia OR he had a heart condition like hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and his heart grew too big in his chest cavity and there was no more room for his lungs to expand

it sounds lik it is very sick. The kitten wasn't getting proper nutrition from its mom. The kitten probably had some worms, or it probably hate something(nothing you fed it) that the kitten wasn't suppose it eat. The kitten sounds sick to me. The kitten either, wondered off to get food, or wondered to go lay somewhere and pass away. You tell a kitten if it's injuered, if their treating their body a certain way, or their meowing. If you see the kitten again, and it's alive, take it to the vet RIGHT AWAY. You could save that kittens life

it could be parvo...i would look it up and see if it had the same systems..if so it could be dead...it hits an animal very hard when they get it...but dont think the worst...is all the kittens gone? maybe they found a home for them...or maybe they took them to the vet...if u have any other animals i would go get them checked...parvo can spread...its hard to get rid of it...thats why they say not to touch stray animals...my sisters dog just died from it...the dog didnt have it until they got to her house...they found out parvo was in her backyard...it can stay there for a couple of years in the ground...i hope this helps...good luck!

I know this is the last thing you want to hear, but take her to the vet asap! I had a kitten do that & she died within 24 hours because I didnt have money for the vet at the time... Look online & you can find vets in your area- LOTS of them have specials like "1st time visit free" & stuff like that.

the kitten could be suffering from any number of illnesses, considering it is living outside. the mother also.

i'm sure you're worried. i can't blame you... i hope that it's ok.
