Have been to 2 vets and cat was given steroid shot which helps and antibiotics. But 3-months later, rash is back. Vet said we cannot continuse steroid shots - too many in a year will hurt her or giver her diabetes. Antibiotics don't help. Because of rash she over grooms herself. Any suggestions?

I have tried different types of litter and given her 2 litter boxes, one even has a cover. The litter box is in a back room and she has privacy.

Ive researched it, and it doesnt seem so bad, so im going to have it done to my kitten, my parents are making me either declaw, or get rid of, so declaw is the only option, i am NOT going to get rid of my cat, so can anyone tell me how much it usually costs, and has anybody had this done to their cat, does it work good?

While I was sleeping, my 8 months old cat brough me in bed her weakest 1 day old kitten.
She usually likes sleeping in my bed. Is it because she wanted to be with me but had to bring her weakest kitten or she felt I should help the kitten??? She left the 2 other kittens alone in the box. I was able to reunite them all and moved the box on my bed so she felt secure close to me...
Any ideas why she acted this way?

Also, later on the night I woke up to another kitten crying. She had brought it under my bed. She stayed beside the kitten but it seemed like she did not know what to do. I again was able to reunite them all but I don't understand her behaviour.

I know we better not touch the young kittens but she does not give me a choice. Has this ever happen to any of you? Why do you think my cat is acting this way?

Note: They are 1 day old and she had gave birth to 5 kittens but 2 dead ones =(

My boyfriends kitten is about ten weeks old and has not gone to the vet for an overall evaluation of the kittens health. Is it necessary for a kitten to go to the vet while he is still very young?

I've had several short-haired cats, and had Sammie, my long-haired cat only a few years. Mostly she is clean and well-groomed, with a little help from me. But we moved from Arizona to Minnesota a couple years ago, and sometimes her winter coat and shedding get to be too much for me to handle. So I finally discovered the joy of taking her to the groomer's - Sammie loves getting brushed, but without help holding her, it is hard to brush all of her tummy. And then I realized I could make life even easier for myself and Sammie by having the groomer trim the long hair around her tush, to help her stay clean and make less mess. I'm sure many long-haired cat-owners know what I mean.

My groomer has up to a 3 week lead time on making appointments, so now that it has been a couple weeks since she got a trim, can anyone clue me in to how soon we will want to go back? I don't want to wait to see how long it takes for the hair to grow back enough to get messy, and then try to make an appt.

I have a new cat that's about a year old. To this point he has been an indoor cat, due to living in an upstairs apartment. He has now been here in my house 2 days. He is neutered and has all claws. He is a siamese mix.

A little while ago, I adopted a kitten who was 4 months old. She's now almost a year old and is spayed. When we adopted her from the shelter, she was using the litterbox and seemed to be litterbox trained since she used it when we brought her home. Now, though, she decides to use the bathroom wherever she likes (behind the TV, behind our washer, and in front of doors- yuck!). What causes my kitty who knows fully well how to use the litterbox (which she does do, about half the time) to do her business elsewhere? Is this a symptom of an illness or should I take her to the vet? And if there are any ways to stop this that you're aware of, please let me know.

My cat Sam is a completely different cat now that she's had her first litter of kittens. (about 5 weeks ago) She hasnt gone to the bathroom the same since, but about a week ago she would purposely pee in her litter box and then step outside and poop. We just moved into a new apartment and it is wreaking havoc on out carpet. We thought maybe she just wanted more attention or something, we tried spending more time with her and petting her, she just seems completely pissed off and doesnt even want to be around us. Were at the point where we dont know what to do with her... She isnt a good companion anymore and if she's not happy here what are we supposed to do? I'm just so confused. If anyone has any answers that might pertain to the bathroom problems, PLEASE RESPOND! I need to know if it's medical or if she's doing it for other reasons.

My cat is super cute - I am talking so cute and irressitable that inspite of myself I find myself petting her -- She is super cute I think in the world of cats she would be a Super Model cat no doubt. I would have married her in a heart beat if she was a girl. Well my question is kissing your cat ok healthwise?? ,, what if I kiss her on her paw and a minute ago she had licked it ?

I'm really worried, however my dad's said it's just because of the things she catches and eats when she goes out.

She usually goes outside to do her business, but recently she's been using the litter tray (a rarity).

Although it may just be because the weather is so awful, I almost feel like she might be trying to let us know that something's wrong.

And also, not going out means she's not been "hunting" as much, so how can dodgy mice be the cause of the problem?

Because she's a family pet, I can't take her to the vets unless I convince one of my parents, as technically she is their cat.

Does anyone have any idea what the cause of this bleeding could be?

There is no way I am doing it myself, and my friend who used to cut my kitty's claws and I both got married and don't live close to each other anymore, so I have to take him to the groomer.

How often should I take him in?

He doesn't seem to be grooming as much as he once did. When I brush him I get piles of dull undercoat and mats. He seems healthy eating and drinking well, and is fairly active for his age.

I did change his dry cat food to Science Diet Hairball formula. Could it be possible that the hairball formula is preventing shedding, thus causing the dull excessive hair which then mats?

My cat just ran away today because i let my beagle outside today and forgot to let him in. what then happened was that there was enough space in the door for the dog to get back in but when we came home today my cat was gone. She is an indoor cat and is not used to the outdoors!! Will she come back?

My cat just got back from the vet today. We brought her in for a normal 'snip, snip' is what we call it. Really she just got fixed. The Dr says that she is underweight 5lb for a 6year old, and surmised that it was because of the uterus. When he opened her up she, in all of his 20 years, has never seen a more twisted and gnarled uterus ever! He thinks this is why she is so skinny. When I brought her home we decided to put her in my mothers room and shut the door for some peace and quiet. However when we got back from picking some food up for her, we went to the room and no cat.... we looked everywhere! Now is this a normal thing?
Should I be dreading all the things that the vet told me could go wrong.. Like her stitches coming appart and her 'intestens come spewing out' or anatheasic death. I cant help but dread that shes dead and thats why she cant hear us looking around for her.
=/
So is it normal for the cat to do this?
(sorry about spelling... I'm not great at it.)

I was at my highschool farm yesterday and some man just left this kitten there. I think it is at the most 5 weeks old and I've had tons of litters of kittens and know taht they aren't supposed to be away from their mother until around 8 weeks. She has trouble eating regular hard kitten food, so should I just feed her the wet food, or should I get some sort of milk replacer?
