My cat just ran away today because i let my beagle outside today and forgot to let him in. what then happened was that there was enough space in the door for the dog to get back in but when we came home today my cat was gone. She is an indoor cat and is not used to the outdoors!! Will she come back?

If she's an indoor cat and not used to being outdoors, she has most likely found herself a hiding place nearby. Cats who have little or no experience of the outside will be a little timid of all the strange smells and sounds and will often be too scared to wander very far.

Check any sheds or outside buildings, hedges, bushes - basically any where that she might be able to hide. Ask all of your neighbours if they've seen her and if they could check their gardens too . If they're not at home post a note through their door with a description of your cat. If there are cars parked nearby, check those too, as cats will often crawl up into the engine space. Walk around where you live, calling her name to see if she will respond. Call local vets and animal welfare centres just in case she may have been taken there by someone.

I have two indoor cats, both of whom sneaked out on one occasion. Sophie sat crying in a small tree waiting for me to rescue her, but Merlin disappeared into the engine space of a parked car.

I hope you will soon be reunited with your cat.

Most cats that escape to the outdoors and are house pets will come back. After about 5-7 days after getting a cat, the cat learns where the food is and will return to the food after they finish exploring the wide wild world, She should be back later tonight or in the next day or two. If not put up fliers to get others to be aware as someone might have found her and think that she is a stray and take her in.

Quite possibly. She knows where to come for food!! Leave a bowl of her crunchies along with a fresh daily bowl of water out on the porch. Also, put out an article of your clothing; a smell she's used to. Cats have strong noses. Make colored posters right away. Explain when & where she was seen last (your house obviously). Post on utility poles, bring to local coffee shops and most DEFINATELY call your local APL daily, giving a full description of your cat, to see if anyone turned her in. And go looking for her.

Look around your house first. Look in tight spaces, under the house, thick bushes. Look inside your house too, she could be sleeping in a secluded spot. Leave your cats favorite food out for her. It should be something with a strong smell so she can smell it from a distance.
If you don't find her by the next day call animal control and give a missing animal report. Post fliers around your area giving a brief but detailed description along with a color, good quality photo.

Most likely she will come back. It might take a few days because everyone and everything living wants to explore the outdoors. It pretty much sucks being locked inside all the time!

She shouldn't be too far away. Most cats know where their food is and usually they can get back pretty easily.
I hope she comes back. Mine went away for a whole week before he came back.
So I'll be thinking about you
Good luck

Put signs up everywhere. With the internet there are TONS of lost animal sites where you can post pictures and your general location. Our's was lost once. Leave food on your porch for her. Four days later I found her. God bless...I hope she comes back!

I really don't know. But you might want to look for her, post pictures, and perhaps talk with the local animal shelters in case they've seen her.

Good luck finding your kitty!
