I just got him a week ago, he is 1 year old beautiful He hides and sneaks around us. No toy or snack will get him out or close to us. I got him from the rescue leage. They said he was shy, I think he was abused. Any suggestions to get him to like me and trust me. He does play with my 7 year old cat. No problem there. I would like to get him to be my lap cat and I can't even get him near me. Help?

I have a litter of 4 and this morning heard one crying. Went in to find baby not able to use back legs. Rushed it to the vet and x-rays showed NO TRAUMA at all! Thank goodness, but we don't know what the prob is.The vet said it could possibly have a blood clot back there, so I am giving baby heparin shots every 8 hrs for 2 days. Also steroids for 5 days and antibiotics for 7. Vet says if not using them in 5 days that baby probably won't recover:( Has anyone ever been through this and what was the outcome? VERY SAD!!!!!

gradually our 2 year old female cat has become scared to eat her dinner as her brother started pushing her out of the way. he eats a bite of his dinner then starts on hers. we feed them in separate rooms but she's too nervous and is constantly on the lookout to see if he's waiting to pounce. we can't shut them in rooms as they cry for each other. she needs so much coaxing into eating and we literally have to act as a barrier and eject him from the vicinity. this is getting tiresome...they're 2 now! i understand there is a natural pecking order and she does stand up to him in other situations but she is very fussy about food and seems to have made an issue out of it. he is a lovely cat, and very cuddly, its just this one aspect of his personality that makes him dominate her where food is concerned. he gets more than enough and we don't think thats the issue. please help!

My cat Minnie has pancreatitis (her pancreas is inflamed, and when she's having problems with it, she vomits and loses weight). She had problems with it last week and I took her to the vet and he gave her an anti-inflammatory shot and a B12 shot. That helped her a lot...but she's still so skinny from it. He doesn't feel she needs to be on meds at this time. The vet prescribed the Eukanuba low residue food, which she gets everyday. He also suggested giving her a couple of tablespoons of canned pumpkin to help her gain weight. She won't eat it...even if I mix canned cat food with it. So I just give her the canned food and she loves it and eats every bit of it. But she's still so skinny (5 lbs and her bones can easily be felt)....does anyone have any suggestions on how I can help my cat gain a little bit of weight? Serious answers only please!

I yell "no" and some times lightly smack her head when she misbehaves, but she doesn't seem to know that means "don't do that." She just thinks we're playing, fighting, and i don't know what.

I have a serious problem. When I'm away, my cat, Floppy, seems to be quite the prankster. He constantly faxes me pictures of his butt while I'm at work. I can't disconnect my fax machine because I need it for my work. I've tried spanking him, giving him time-out, and even faxing him pictures of MY butt, but that doesn't seem to faze him. I need help! How do I stop him?!

How do you keep them together in the same house? Wouldn't the house be chaotic?

Yesturday now, I was eating a hot dog and the same kitten came over and latched on to my face and made me bleed. Do you think he will out grow this? What do you suggest? MY CAT IS ABOUT A YEAR OLD AND HE IS A LONG HAIRED CAT... FOR THE LAST 2 OR 3 DAYS HE HASN'T BEEN EATING AND HE HAS LOST ALOT OF WEIGHT. I DON'T KNOW IF HE MIGHT BE JEALOUS OF OUR BABY ( BUT HE IS 6 MONTHS OLD) OR OUR NEW KITTEN BUT WE HAVE HAD IT FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS. THE KITTEN HAD AN EYE INFECTION AND UPPER RESPATORY PROBLEMS WHEN WE GOT HIM. DO YOU THINK HE MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN IT FROM THE KITTEN,. THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING BUT HE HASN'T BEEN COUGHING OR SNEEZING AND I CAN'T TELL WEITHER HE HAS WORMS OR NOT BECUASE HE IS AN OUTDOOR CAT AND HE POOPS OUTSIDE IN PRIVACY I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO AND I DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO TAKE HIM TO THE VET.

I have 3 cats, 2 have FLV.
One of them has not been feeling well and has bumps ALL over his body, and has been losing his hair. Well I took him to the vet and she said it was an environmental allergy and put him on 3 different antibiotics. He's been on them for about a week or so, and he's doing a little better, but he's really sleepy because one of the meds is Benydryl. Anyways, yesterday he was sitting in the window, and I went over and picked him up and on the window sill there were 2 rice looking things. I looked at them closer and realized they were moving! I called the vet right away, and they said it's probably tapeworms. I have to take a stool sample to them tonight. My questions are:
How do they get tapeworms? How do we get rid of them? If one of my cats have them, do they all? and finally, will the tapeworms somehow affect the FLV he has? Sorry, but he's my baby, and I'm really worried.

We only give our cat, Jules hard food and he eats it occasionally but he likes it with water.
i.e: He will paw his food into his water bowl and eat it, or I will pour water on his food and he will eat it but other wise hr doesn't really like it that much.
he is 10 years old and the vet said he had perfect and strong teeth... :(
We also but him really high quality food:

One vet tried to take a sample when she was awake and failed. Another vet told me that she would have to be sedated for him to take a sample. I had never heard that before. Which way is safer? I am trying to fond out if she has a behavioral problem or a UTI. She pees on anything soft...pillows, clothes, blankets....any ideas??

my kitten 5 week old persain male was entering the litter box too much and i observed it cant pee, ot struggled many time but in vain, i took it to the vet he told me it has a blocked urethra and that is due to undevelopled male organ that was too small for it s current developmental stage !!!
he kept pressing on her end and put a catheter he had and the kitten started to pee ... ! he gave her some saline under skin then told me it would be fine after.
second day the kitten was still bad didnt show much imporvement didnt eat also. we kept giving her water and saline and glucose by mouth, then we found her bladder much distended and about to blow, we made him an emergency human cathater and luckily was able to introdue it into his urethra and many droplets came out and released some pressure out but still his bladder is somewhat distended ...
will this continue to happen .. how can we manage ?

Hi! I just began fostering a mama cat and her kittens for a cat rescue organization. She is sweet and lovable and very affectionate, BUT my dog scared her, then one my own cats came too close to her . . . well, she went PSYCHO and bit my hand right through to the bone. I think she's vaccinated, however, I'm not sure. I soaked my hand in rubbing alcohol and some peroxide. It stopped bleeding but it feels really sore. I'm watching for swelling, but otherwise, I think I'll live. My question- can cat bites cause infection, and if they do, what steps should I take to make sure it doesn't get infected? BTW, I realize the cat's just protecting her babies and is likely terrified of all the changes happening to her, so I don't blame her. I just want to make sure my hand doesn't fall off! lol She is in a quiet room now, away from all the commotion and I think she'll settle down in a few days.

Don't you wish you could know what your cat does during the day? I do! Well so did Mr. Lee's human. Who attached a camera to Mr. Lee's collar. Now we can see a general idea of your cat's agenda. I plan on getting a camera for my kittens.

My cats like to put their toy felt mice in their food bowl. I will take the mice out and within 5 minutes, the mice are back in the food bowl. I know it must be hard for them to eat with the mice there but the cats seem to like it. My friends cats do the same thing.
