Chinese food is usually high in MSG, which contains a great deal of sodium. Your cat would be better off eating just the rice. In response to the recent pet food recalls there are alot of resources available on the web concerning making your own pet food. One of my favorites is on Rachael Ray's 30 minute meals. She features a recipe for meals you can share with your pet every month.

Haven't been to any Chinese for the last four years now. but if I go there, I don't eat anything that I don't recognize. Most food that I eat if I go, are sea foods,ie shrimps, fish. But you never know. I cooked all my foods knowing that it is clean. Even vegetables, unless it is home grown, has to be cleaned due to insects and sprayed chemicals (pest killers). This is a joke, but my father used to say. If you ate something and it doesn't cause stomach pain, it is good. Yea right---lol--. You know what, in Florida they ate gator meat, and some of the food store here sells shark meat? We used to catch Sharks with fishing net. We let it go if it's still alive. We throw it in the fire if it is dead. We never ate it.Anyway, I heard all this before, so I am very careful if I go to any Chinese restaurant... Don't order anything that has a meat in it...

When I was growing up I had a cat that liked Chinese food as much as I do! I don't think it would hurt the cat if it is only an occasional treat. My cat lived 17 years.

Please!!! Don't give the cats anything BUT high quality cat food. Why? Cats can not tolerate most of the foods we eat (especially milk products), nor do they get the vitamins they need from our food. Do your cats a favor, keep them alive and healthy - on their own food. Should you want to give them a treat, but only every now and then, they do like tunafish - I don't recommend giving them straight tunafish - just pour some of the juice over their dry food. They'll love you for it!

Yes, although feeding them "people" food all the time will make them fat and may cause your cat to beg for your food when you are eating and would like to be left alone.
You can give cat almost any kind of meat-but make sure not to give them anything with bones -chicken wings for example are bad-they can choke on them. Cats also enjoy many dairy products like milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. Most of these are safe for cats to eat-but like people sometimes too much dairy can upset their tummies.
It really depends on the cat as far as other foods go. One of my cats *loves* french fries, the other won't touch them. One of them likes corn. (Side note-it's not good to feed cats high starch foods like the fries because they can't really break it down well).

Not too salty or sweet then sure. If it's bad though then they usually throw it up.... cats eat a lot of things and yes...they will eat insects and dirt on the ground since they are curious. My cats sometimes eat califlower. Just never ever feed them chocolate, eggs (raw OR cooked), and cows milk you don't want more throw up!!
(They eat grass to throw up sometimes)

Sure they eat insects. My cats live both indoors and out, and I've often seen them catch and eat insects.
I don't fuss about food. I feed them a mixture of dry and wet cat food (good quality) but I also give them occasional (!) tidbits from my plate, if they fancy something. One of my cats loved to eat the leftover mushrooms from a beef stroganoff. She never came to any harm.
PS, and she loved cheese!

Cats need lots of protein, and beef should be fine. However, if there is MSG, that may be harmful... Find out before you give a cat leftovers.
It is probably better to give cats a well-balanced cat food, rather than give them human food.

Plain chicken breast boiled in water, cooled and sliced is great. It also keeps for days in the fridge. If you add some chicken bones, greens and a little tomato juice to the water you can boil it up for chicken soup which your cat may also like.
Too much tuna fish is very bad for cats but most of them love the chunk light in water. Cats become lactose intolerant and can get sick from milk. I have heard of cats that like string beans and asparagus. Some cats like lettuce if you slice it up very fine -- I think it resembles cat grass.
Since cat food has tons of preservatives and chemicals in it, it is nice to have really plain, fresh, simple food for a change.

It's too spicy and way too salty for them, a lot of them will barf it up. If the beef is bland, it'll be ok, but not if it's covered in sauce or soy sauce. They shouldn't eat a lot of it though, if they do they're more likely to barf it on the floor in half an hour.
