For example when he rubs up against my legs, furniture and doors... is this a sign of his contentment? Just curious, I have had my "baby" for about 3 years but am still trying to figure out cat behavior. Thanks!

I really like the cat but also really like my boyfriend!! (by the way I didn't consult him before I brought cat!!)

I am a pet lover. Sadly, I'm allergic to cats, so I cannot own one, but I do have two dogs. I am very watchful over my dogs and would never just let them run free. Yet, I know many people let their cats "out for the night". Yet, each day I hear of or read sad stories where a person's cat didn't come home. Our urban world makes letting a cat out at night challenging - there are fleas/ticks, tons of cars, cat fights and dog fights. In other words, it is not safe for any cat to be free outside! Yet people do this daily. Worse, many cats kill birds, which is now endangering local bird populations! It seems to me that the damage caused by cats combined with placing their lives at risk is too great to let any cat outside unsupervised. Yet this continues. Why? Can a real cat lover explain this to me and justify their behavior?

The apartment manager insists that all apartments, infested with bugs or not, get sprayed with a pesticide active ingredient called chlorfenapyr, and hydroprene, and also treated in crevices and kitchen and bathroom cabinets with a gel cockroach bait called Advion.

I am wondering in particular if anyone knows if the chlorfenapyr spray pesticide will harm my cats? I am putting them in the bedroom during application, but they insist on going in the bathroom as well and the cats may get in there.

I can't be home when they spray and am just putting up signs
to watch out for the cats.

Does anyone know about the health risks of chlorfenapyr?

I am leaving the windows open a couple of inches, too.

We just adopted a cat from a shelter. He is VERY playful and mischievous (sp?). He also only has 3 legs. We would like to give him a tough-guy name, but were also playing with ideas like "Tripod" and "Tres" but we haven't settled on anything yet.

Anyone have any creative ideas?

Also, to all you animal activists, I am not condeming the cat because he has 3 legs. Please remember that I adopted him from a shelter and we love him very much. I don't need criticism for patronizing him for having 3 legs instead of 4.

Thanks!

I'm getting a new Munchkin kitten and I can't think of what to name it so I thought I'd get some help. It's a male and it's gray and white and very furry. Being a Munchkin, it's like a short little cat (like dwarfism in humans)...Any Ideas?

I have had these 2 strays near my apartment since last summer. They need a home but I'm moving to Japan in a year. I called the vet but they want $220 to get them fixed. Any other ideas for getting them fixed or getting them a home? (Seymour, Indiana)

Well i just got soft paws for my kitty. She is a big baby and when we were putting them on she was meowing bloody murder! like we were torturing her...she is fine now and i think she actually loves them cuz she walks around like shes the queen with her pruple nails...my question is does it hurt the cat to put these one? could her nails be sore?

for those of you who dont know you clean the claws with alcohol then trim them them put the soft paws on

my sis is a vet and she clipped the nails so i know she didnt do them to short

the kitty is about 5 years old and spayed

My female cat will always sharpen her claws on the cabinets and cupboards and drawers and I have tried many times to get her to stop. I usually use a squirt gun to stop her, but she continues to do it. She even has her own cat barn complete with a scratching post. How can I get her to stop ruining my drawers?

I have a male cat, He's about6 or 7 years old. Someone gave him to us in Nov. He was an indoor/outdoor cat, now he is indoors all the time. A couple weeks ago I noticed he keeps scratching behind his ears. From him scratching it gets all bloody and the hair falls out. He doesnt have flees, so I'm not sure what it is. I have an appt. with the vet on friday, but I was wondering if anyone ever heard of this and what i might be.

Is it normal for her not to have a bowel movement everyday? Is there something I can add to her food to help her?

He asks for food when he's hungry but when i feed him he'll have a tiny amount and leave the rest. Next feeding time he wont touch the food that he's left and wants fresh food but only eats a tiny amount again. When he was 3 months he was eating more than this, usually emptying his bowl. Other wise he looks healthy and is active and alert. What is wrong with him?
